Yesterday evening I successfully completed the Master Builder scenario. Thoughts in reply.

I restarted the game once early on when I realized that the best early game strategy is to rush to get docks on all the key islands, and worry about developing them later. Then I made the mistake of building my cathedral on my second residential island after getting to 2000 Noblemen on my first island and using up all the land area there.
The sense of accomplishment I felt after I got to 3500 Noblemen on the 2nd island and was able to begin the final stage of cathedral construction was like nothing I've felt from a video game in a very long time, if ever. I feel like I've built a working airship out of toothpicks and twine. At the end of the game, I had over 20000 residents, including nearly 6000 noblemen and over 3000 beggars, and 17 supply routes.
I can't imagine what the Imperator scenario must be like, where you need 10000 Noblemen and 10000 Envoys to win, and you're playing against 3 hostile AI opponents. It doesn't seem possible given the available land mass.
Next up will be my first continuous game I think. I am somewhat interested in exploring the military side of this game, beyond what you see in the campaign.
