For what is supposed to be an 'billion dollar industry' that's 'bigger than movies' it's amazing how amateur it continues to be. Metacritic sells itself as a professional reviewing site and yet continues to allow scores to be given prior to a games release.
If it was any other industry, there would be a documentary about it on 60 minutes or Panorama, talking about the 'corruption of Metacritic' and investigating whether games companies were the one's putting in these 'early votes'. But of course, in the gaming industry we have no such investigative journalism. All we have is a media geared to give soft interviews to industry leaders where no tough questions are ever asked, an printed edited copies of game company press releases. Sometime not even edited!
Honest gamers need to ask more questions of it's media and it's industry and the media needs to get back to support the customers/readers/gamers rather than the industry it reports on.
