Shit is fucking scary, even the second time around.

I pretty much hyped myself through the roof for doom3, so I upgraded my computer a couple of weeks before it came out and got myself some 5.1 surround speakers (I'd always just used a couple of cheapy stereo speakers up until then).
The morning I got it I went to Tesco and picked up a couple of 24 can crates of coke and a minifridge along with about 50 pepperami sticks.... got my minifridge all setup next to my desk and then got to one of my most important tasks
I ripped the giant cardboard box the 5.1 speakers came in apart, and used masking tape to completely cover my window in the thick card so no light could get in at all.
And then I played. And played. And played, and completed the damn game in one sitting - it really was an incredible experience as I think when you stop playing and come back to it later you've lost the tension and atmosphere that's building up to that point.
I was so wired on coke and pro-plus caffeine tablets by the end of it I felt like I might have a heart attack, but it was totally worth it - and I still rate that time playing Doom3 as one of my best gaming experiences... it saddens me when I hear people complaining about it being dark, or not being able to have a gun out at the same time as the light
