  • My first notable gaming memory was amazingly on PC. It was my birthday and my Dad had just come home with a brand new 386 IBM and my first (of what would be many many many) RPG game - AD&D Gold Box Curse of the Azure bonds. If my parents knew what they were creating by introducing me to this game, I'm sure they would have thought twice before bringing it into the house. Fortunately for me, they did bring this wonderful game. Unfortunately for me, DOS gaming is not the polished plug and play install of today's Windows systems (haha.. bugginess aside, it IS night and day). Instead of playing the game, I spent the day learning about the wide world of DOS memory management and did my best to accomplish the ~620k free (out of 640k) memory the game required. For all the hair pulling, swearing and general frustration, there was nothing like turning that game on for the first time and seeing all 16 colors spring to life in my very first RPG computer game. The memory sure uses rose-tinted glasses to look at those days but I will always look fondly upon the gold box games and the joy they brought me.

    I own a PS3 and PC.
