World of Warcraft cross-realm zones coming

In the beginning, World of Warcraft servers were isolated, lost and alone, spinning through the void. Then came a cross-realm dungeon finder, letting players across servers group together to hunt loot, followed by cross-realm raids. Now Blizzard's going the whole hog and introducing cross-realm zones, joining underpopulated areas of the world across severs.

Usually when preparing for a raid in World of Warcraft, I'd disenchant a bunch of items to get enchants ready for any new gear I won. Every once in a while, I'd get sidetracked and come back to DE a vital piece of epic gear instead of the trash I had intended. Panic usually ensued.

Fans choose new WoW Monopoly pieces

There are plenty of iconic images from the World of Warcraft game and lore. I can come up with at least 25 off the top of my head. So when it came time for Blizzard to choose which icons would be best suited as playing pieces for the upcoming Monopoly World of Warcraft board game, they narrowed it down to 10 and then asked the players to narrow it down to six.

Recruit players back to WoW and get a special mount

In an effort to revive its slowly dwindling numbers, Blizzard is offering players a new reward to bring former players back to World of Warcraft and its current expansion, Cataclysm.

Two new faction specific mounts have been unveiled: the Spectral Gryphon for Alliance characters and the Spectral Wind Rider for Horde characters. To be eligible for these rewards, players send a "scroll of resurrection" to a former player. Once the player accepts and pays for at least 30 days of game time, the referring player will get the reward. Read more »

Blizzard Entertainment has revealed plans to cut around 600 jobs globally, saying it needs to align its workforce with "current organizational needs." No BlizzCon in 2012, Battle.net World Championship spun off

Diablo clickfiends, StarCraft stratmasters, and World of Warcraft junkies have been able to share their love of all things Blizzard in-person at BlizzCon since 2005, but this year they'll need to find a new outlet for that pent-up glee. Blizzard revealed today that the convention will skip 2012, while its pro-gaming strand is being spun off into its own event, the 2012 Battle.net World Championship.
