I recently spoke with Jason Kim, senior producer at id Software, currently working on Rage. In relating some of the higher level thinking behind the decision to do a new IP as the big game out of the gate for id tech 5, Kim talked about how the studio has evolved.
Our studio has grown a lot, not just in size but also in design and art process, and even a technology standpoint. John has admitted he can't do everything on his own. There are a lot of smart guys that are required to be able to make a game these days. He can't just lock himself up in a room, come out with an engine, and say okay, make a game with this. A new update for Raven's mystical World War II shooter Wolfenstein is now available from FileShack, addressing stability issues and bringing the game up to v1.11.

A demo for Raven's shooter Wolfenstein was released today on PC. We're not sure what it contains yet, but Nazis and green-hued supernatural ghosts are a good bet.

A flurry of minor Xbox 360 tidbits emerged from platformer holder Microsoft this morning, so, in the interest of efficiency, we're rolling all of it together into a big news katamari.
First up is word that a 578MB demo for Raven's Wolfenstein, which hit stores back in August, is now available in the Xbox Live Marketplace. As usual, it's exclusive to Xbox Live Gold members for a week--Silver folk will be able to give it a go on September 30. Read more »

A number of employees at Wolfenstein multiplayer developer Endrant Studios have been fired on the day of the game's release, according to GamesIndustry.biz.
Endrant has confirmed the news, though a spokesperson did not comment on the number of cuts made. The studio employed 17 people as of yesterday. Read more »

As Raven's mystical WWII shooter Wolfensetin makes its premiere at North American retailers today, the studio has issued a launch day patch for the PC edition.
Now available on FileShack for players and server administrators, the 1.1 update packs a smattering of fixes, including balance tweaks and the addition of menu sound. Read more »

After getting our first glimpse of Raven's shooter Wolfenstein at last year's QuakeCon, the game is now shipping just five days after the start of this year's convention. To celebrate, a final launch trailer was rolled for attendees earlier today, and is now posted below for your viewing pleasure.
Look for the game to hit stores August 18 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Developer Endrant Studios is working on the multiplayer component of Raven's Wolfenstein, and has now revealed all the details on what to expect when going online with the shooter.
"Players can enter the veil dimension and use veil powers much like the ones BJ has access to, as well as all the standard weapons and items," said Endrant's Matt Wilson to GameSpot. Read more »

Following up on BJ Blazkowicz's legendary battle against Mecha Hitler, we now have the second of the four motion comics that retell the history of the Wolfenstein shooter series, as publisher Activision prepares to unleash the latest entry come August 4.
Developed by Raven, Wolfenstein is due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Activision is putting out a video graphic novel series to promote Raven's upcoming shooter Wolfenstein. The first of four videos has protagonist BJ Blazkowicz battling a ferocious mechanical Hitler in a retelling of the hero's historical conquests.
Wolfenstein hits the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on August 4.
