In "old Shack" we would use the Weekend Discussion post as a platform for the editors at Shacknews to discuss what games they would be enjoying over the weekend. As outlined in this Chatty post, that doesn't really work with the new format.
What we've decided to do is to bring the conversation here, to a frontpage post. This allows us to highlight Chatty on the frontpage as it was in the past and--with the link between comments on the frontpage and in Chatty--give our users a place to share their current gaming experiences. Handheld: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Though it lacks the Roman numeral designation, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker fulfills creator Hideo Kojima's promise that it would be the "true sequel" of the franchise. The story writes an important chapter for the series, describing the descent of Big Boss from hero to villain and the formation of Outer Haven. There's more than the full campaign too. 128 'Extra Ops' challenge missions add a pick-up-and-play mode perfect for the handheld format. Read more »

Valkyria Chronicles 2, the PSP-exclusive sequel to the outstanding PS3 strategy title, is set to receive a "huge pack" of downloadable content later this month, according to Sega.
The first missions included in the upcoming DLC brings players back to Mellvere--a location from the original title--ramping up the challenge to levels "unlike" anything fans experience in the initial campaign. Sega says it will reveal pricing and included content next week. Read more »

The PSP-exclusive sequel to PlayStation 3 strategy-RPG Valkyria Chronicles will hit North American and European shops in summer 2010, publisher Sega has confirmed.
Set two years after the first, the sequel adds real-time controls to the mix and promises "stories of friendship, love and growing pains during a time of war and revolution." Read more »
