El Presidente will return next year with a few new tricks up his sleeve in a new entry in the island republic simulator series Tropico, publisher Kalypso Media announced today.
Helmed by Tropico 3 developer Haemimont Games, Tropico 4 will feature a new campaign of twenty missions across ten maps. Other shiny newness includes twenty buildings such as "Stock Exchange, Shopping mall, Aqua Park and a Mausoleum to El Presidente," six disasters including "volcanoes, droughts and tornadoes," a Council of Ministers and trading with other nations. [Update: 3:49pm] It appears that some of the promotions have changed. Rather than offer the standard edition of Titan Quest, players can now get the Titan Quest: Gold Edition for $4.99 (75% off from $19.99). Also, X3: Gold appears to have been removed from today's promotion.

Absolute Power, the first expansion pack for Tropico 3 PC, is set to bring "new campaigns, new missions, new islands, unique buildings and new presidential powers" to the dictatorship management simulator in July, according to publisher Kalypso.

A 1.10GB demo of Haemimont Games tropical urban simulator Tropico 3 is now available on FileShack, offering would-be dictators a tutorial and two missions.

Haemimont Games' third-world urban sim Tropico 3 is headed to the Xbox 360 and PC worldwide on October 16, representatives announced today.
If that sounds like a long time to wait before you start up your banana farm, you're in luck: a PC demo is also set to be released on September 7.

The Xbox 360 port of Kalypso Media's Tropico 3 looks much like the PC version. Only one screenshot really gives us a look at the UI differences, which consist of A's and B's rather than left and right clicks.
Both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Tropico 3 hit this September.

New screenshots of Tropico 3 reveal the interface of Haemimont Games' banana republic management simulator, and slip in a few sly jabs at tourists and the clergy.
Of course, global approval and income from tourism might just come in handy with your island caught between the superpowers of the cold war--not to mention the internal strife and political conflicts that come with the territory--so best humour them. Read more »

Banana republic simulator Tropico 3 developer Haemimont Games is now accepting beta applications from budding Presidentes for a closed test set to begin on July 13.
Tropico 3 is scheduled for release in Europe on PC and Xbox 360 in September. A North American publisher has yet to be announced, but we'll keep you in the loop.

New screenshots of Haemimont Games' Tropico 3 show the banana republic's El Presidente incarnate courtesy of the the urban simulator's avatar creator.
El Presidente can issue a rousing address from the palace balcony, or step outside and wander the island paradise on foot or cruise in a limo. Hands-on rulers can inspect buildings, hurry construction along, soothe protests and even grab a gun to fight rebels. Read more »

Basically, Tropico is a lot like SimCity, but you play in the Caribbean, and have less money. The stadiums and casinos may be a bit smaller and dirtier, but they certainly have more character. Mix in a bit of political strife and you've got the perfect summer urban simulation blockbuster. Read more »

Publisher Kalypso Media announced earlier today that Bulgarian studio Haemimont Games will be developing Tropico 3, a PC sequel to the Caribbean-themed construction and management simulator.
Kalypso acquired the rights to the series from Take-Two, and is now positioning the project for a summer 2009 release. Read more »
