Following Microsoft's recent announcement that they'd be making Kinect development tools available to those making XNA-developed titles for the Xbox Live Indie Games Channel, Eurogamer has gathered some reactions to the announcement from a few indie game developers themselves.
Dutch developer Ronimo Games (Swords and Sandles - WiiWare), sees Kinect's potential, but won't likely be jumping on the development bandwagon anytime soon. "Kinect is extremely cool technology, with lots of potential to bring about new game experiences and get new audiences to start gaming," said co-founder Fabian Akker, before clarifying that the studio's next game won't be utilizing the controller-less peripheral. "For the long term, I'm not sure. I think it requires a lot of work for a small studio like us to make motion games feel really solid and responsive. But if we think of something awesome, I'm sure we'll build it." Read more »

Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment (FADE) is reporting that Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade enjoyed its best month to date in August, built on the strength of the Summer of Arcade promotion.
According to the report, Microsoft brought in $17.5 million in August 2010 over $16.5 million in August 2009, which was the second year of the Summer of Arcade promotion. The report presents a top 10 list of games sold, ranked by revenue generated, and includes the total number of copies purchased. Note that some titles were not included in the Summer of Arcade promotion or were released before August. Read more »

Indie developer RedLynx today revealed that Trials HD has sold more than one million units--not including sales of the 'Big Pack' downloadable content. The fiendish physics-based motorcycle puzzle-platformer launched on Xbox Live Arcade on August 12, 2009, priced at 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15).

Fifty new Trials HD tracks will arrive in the physics-based motorcyle stunt game's 'Big Thrills' downloadable content pack, announced today by developer RedLynx.
RedLynx is creating forty of the tracks itself but the other ten will be picked from entries to a level creation contest. A $5,000 US grand prize is on offer, while all winners will score at least some Trials HD swag and get to see their creations included in the DLC. Read more »
