Shogun 2: Total War's publisher Sega might be overly generous in describing this new trailer as "gameplay" but it certainly is a fine display of the strategy sequel's graphics.
We had a gander at Shogun 2 during E3 2010, where developer The Creative Assembly explained its plans and goals for the strategy game set in feudal Japan. Improved land and naval battles are promised--as is customary for a new Total War title--as well as a more thoughtful style of play that doesn't involve simply swarming your foes. Read more »

As communications manager Kieran Brigden puts it, Shogun 2: Total War isn't just a much different game than developer Creative Assembly's recent Total War entries, it's also the game that the studio has been wanting to make for the past ten years.
"We made Shogun 1 ten years ago--not quite to the day, but very close," he explained. "Shogun 2 is basically taking ten years of design and game-making experience and rolling all of that back into being the game we wanted to make when we made the first." Read more »

While Shogun 2: Total War's cinematic announcement trailer was quite nice, it showed little of the actual game. Which is why publisher Sega has sent along three in-game screenshots from The Creative Assembly's strategy sequel to celebrate E3.
Boasting "Improved land and naval battle gameplay" and improved AI with campaign, co-op and competitive multiplayer modes, Shogun 2: Total War is headed to PC in 2011.

The Creative Assembly is returning to feudal Japan with a sequel to Shogun: Total War, publisher Sega has announced, which is curiously named Shogun 2: Total War.
Set in the middle of the 16th century, the strategy sequel will see players using "military engagements, economics and diplomacy" to reunite Japan's warring clans under their rule to become the new Shogun. Read more »

As if it weren't bad enough that skateboarders are taking over our park benches and handrails for their shenanigans, the CGI-snaffizied live-action debut trailer for Ubisoft Montreal's
Shaun White Skateboarding shows they'll soon be ripping up the streets too.
Ubisoft explains that the famed snowboarder's skateboarding game will allow players to "shape your world by extending handrails into endless grinds, carving alleys into half pipes and morphing streets into ramps." Tsk! The youth of today--not a shred of respect. Read more »

Under the guise of new "environmental initiative," publisher Ubisoft today announced that it will begin replacing the traditional printed paper instruction manuals included in its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases with digital in-game manuals later this year.
Explained the company:
Ubisoft's digital game manuals will provide multiple benefits for the player and the environment. Including the game manual directly in the game will offer the player easier and more intuitive access to game information, as well as allow Ubisoft to provide gamers with a more robust manual. Ubisoft internal data shows that producing one ton of paper used in Ubisoft's game manuals consumes an average of two tons of wood from 13 trees, with a net energy of 28 million BTU's (equivalent to average heating and energy for one home/year), greenhouse gases equivalent of over 6,000 lbs of CO2, and wastewater of almost 15,000 gallons.
