Developer Freebird Games today revealed A Bird Story, a side-story of sorts starring a boy who'll grow up to be the patient in To the Moon's actual sequel.

Indie developer Freebird Games' latest title is a quirky adventure game called To the Moon, which tells the story of two scientists hired to manipulate a dying man's memories in a way that enable him to fulfill one of his life's unrealized wishes. Players take on the roles of scientists--Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts--and must delve deep into their bed-ridden subject Johnny's mind to first discover the meaning of his last wish, and then make it come true.

To the Moon due November 1

Indie developer Freebird Games has announced a November 1 release date for To the Moon, the heart-tugging adventure-RPG about a couple of scientists manipulating a dying man's memories to help him fulfill an unrealized wish. A couple of months ago, I interviewed Freebird's founder and one-man powerhouse Kan Gao about the project, which conveys its creatively original narrative using some familiar conventions from Japanese role-playing games.

Indie Jeff's Weekly Picks: August 8-12

This week, I'd like to call your attention to an exceptionally cool, free mod for Half-Life 2 called The Stanley Parable (see top image), developed by Davey Wreden. You may have already even seen a Shacker or two recommend the game in Chatty, or seen some buzz about it elsewhere on the Internet. If not, consider this your call to action. It's a relatively short adventure that will likely take you less than an hour to fully experience. If you really want get the most out of the experience, expect to play The Stanley Parable multiple times.

Indie 'To the Moon' explores memory and regret

Indie developer Kan Gao of Freebird Games is working on a very cool-looking JRPG-style adventure called To the Moon, and has released a debut trailer that does a great job capturing the emotional resonance his high-concept story is trying to achieve. To the Moon tells the story of Johnny--a man in the twilight of his life--and the two scientists who embark on a journey to alter Johnny's memories in an effort to help him realize an unfulfilled wish before he passes on.
