EA announces The Sims 3 Generations

EA announces The Sims 3 Generations

Your lovable little virtual torture victims are getting a new expansion pack this spring, EA announced today. The Sims 3 Generations brings new activities for every stage of your Sims' lives.

Your Sim will start out as a child, where he can have an imaginary friend (who can be made real), take dance classes, and hang out in his tree house. Teenage years consist of pranks, proms, and parties. If you're more the teen nerd type, you can have him play with a chemistry set, but misuse will make him a dead teen Sim statistic. If he survives, the adult Sims can plan bachelor and bachelorette parties, throw large-scale weddings, and change their style when they hit a mid-life crisis. Read more »

Cloud gaming service Gaikai goes live

Cloud gaming service Gaikai goes live

Cloud-based gaming service Gaikai has finally entered public beta testing, CEO David Perry has revealed on his blog. Five games can now be played direct from your browser, including the previously un-demoed PC edition of Dead Space 2.

Requiring no plugins beyond Flash and Java, Gaikai renders games remotely on distributed servers then streams the game back to your computer as streaming video. While input is somewhat lagged and visual quality is understandably lower than it'd be on a top-notch PC--look right for snaps from my own experiences--games are quite playable and will run on relatively low-spec hardware. Dreamcast Collection Hitting PC, 360 on February 22

The Dreamcast is almost a dozen years old, but it still has a special place in the hearts of gamers. For those looking to relive old memories, Sega has revealed that a new Dreamcast Collection will be coming on February 22 to PC and Xbox 360 owners. Unfortunately, the game selection may prove underwhelming for some fans.

The Collection only includes a scant four games, all of which are either currently available on Xbox Live Arcade or will be soon. Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi are both up for 800 MSP ($10), while Sega Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5: Part 2 are both on the way. PC users might be pleased to find these games available with enhanced graphics, while 360 players could grab the whole set or download only the pieces they want. Read more »

Red Faction: Armageddon Pushed to May 2011; Saint's Row 3 Arriving Next Fall

Sorry revolutionists, you're going to have to wait a little longer until you can escape underground and decimate its thriving civilization.

In an investor release, THQ revealed Red Faction: Armageddon has been pushed to May 2011. Originally the shooter was scheduled to arrive in March 2011.
