I'll be honest, I completely expected Poker Night 2 to simply be a rehash of 2010's Poker Night at the Inventory--and for the most part, it is. However, Telltale's solo poker experience adds a number of new features that definitely makes this new installment a more worthwhile effort than the first, albeit with some persistent issues keep it from hitting the jackpot.
You know how a night of poker goes. You get together with some buddies, have a few drinks, and before you know it you're using your pets as collateral. These things sneak up on you. The same is true at the Inventory, as Poker Night 2 is going to start dealing cards this week.
Telltale's original Poker Night at the Inventory rewarded good play with shiny unlockables for Valve's Team Fortress 2, and Poker Night 2 is really upping the ante. With characters from Portal, The Evil Dead, Sam & Max, Venture Bros. and more, the sequel will rifle through their possessions to offer Borderlands 2 heads and skins on all platforms, as well as other platform-specific unlocks.
Though it was leaked a little early, Telltale Games officially announced Poker Night 2 today. The card-playing cast of mixed intellectual properties is bringing a few new faces for the sequel, which will hit PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in late April. The announcement also teases "other systems to be announced."
Internet detectives have blown the cover of a teaser campaign Telltale Games started this week. No, not for the Fables game--that was officially announced today as The Wolf Among Us. This mystery game has been unmasked as a sequel to Poker Night at the Inventory, and this time Ash from The Evil Dead, Borderlands' Claptrap, and Brock Samson of The Venture Bros. are joining the table.
