Despite an admittedly stagnant Japanese economy and "generally weak" demand for video games in North America and Europe, things are looking up for entertainment conglomerate SEGA SAMMY compared to where it was a year ago.
Though net sales between April and December 2009 were down 7.7% over the previous year, the company saw net income of 16.94 billion yen ($189.9M USD)--a significant improvement over the previous year's net loss of 10.84 billion yen ($121.5M USD). Read more »

Capcom's Wii crossover beat 'em up Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars also sports a top-down shooter with support for four-player co-op, a new trailer reveals.
Starring Ryu, PTX-40A, Ken the Eagle and Tekkaman, 'Ultimate All-Shooters' is set on the snowy world of Lost Planet 2 and sports branching paths, "mini-bosses, bosses, and MEGA bosses" according to a post on the Capcom blog. Read more »

Capcom's blue bomber and his lil' sis Roll star in the latest blast of media from Eighting's crossover fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
The robotic siblings can be glimpsed in screenshots and gameplay footage (below), and then actually played when the Wii exclusive arrives in North America come January 26. Read more »

The latest two trailers for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom have arrived, showing off two fighters so massive they don't need tag-team partners.
The first gameplay video shows off Tatsunoko creation Gold Lightan, a hulking golden robot that doubles as a lighter. Yes, a lighter. Perhaps he and Megatron should start a support group for giant robots with questionable secondary forms.

Capcom has formally unveiled the last of the new characters being added to the North American edition of crazy crossover fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.
Joe the Condor hails from the Tatsunoko side, specifically the old Gatchaman / G-Force / Battle of the Planets series, while Zero comes from Capcom's Mega Man X games. Other combatants include, but are not limited to, Dead Rising's Frank, Ryu and Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Viewtiful Joe, Jun the Swan and a gigantic PTX-40A mech. Read more »

Capcom has announced the latest member of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars increasingly eclectic lineup of fighters--Dead Rising photojournalist Frank West.
As one might expect, Frank sports a deadly arsenal of items from the mall, including shopping carts, baseball bats and even zombies, but best of all is the Servbot masks.

It's hard to figure out what the best part of this Tatsunoko vs. Capcom footage actually is. Maybe it's when Viewtiful Joe assaults Street Fighter's Ryu for over 10,000 billion damage, or when Science Ninja Team Gatchaman's Jun the Swan catches Tekkaman in a "fantastic" 36-hit combo that delivers over 26,000 billion points worth of damage.
Or is it when Chun-Li faces off against one of Lost Planet's gigantic PTX-40A mechs? Read more »

Against all odds, crossover Wii fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom will be released in North America, publisher Capcom has confirmed.
The Wii fighter, which sees characters from Capcom's various franchises facing off against those of animation studio Tatsunoko, arrived in Japan last year. An overseas release was thought to be near-impossible due to licensing issues, as international rights for the various animated Tatsunoko series are held by a variety of different companies. Following the ridiculously successful Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, which has sold over 10 million units since it debuted on Wii and DS before the 2008 Summer Olympics, Sega has announced that the duo are now headed off to the Winter Olympics.
Developed by Sega of Japan with the involvement of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games will offer Wii and Nintendo DS owners numerous Olympic-themed mini-games, such as Alpine Skiing and Speed Skating. Read more »
