Supreme Commander Tips & Tricks

  • Camera, Commands

    Before leaping into Supreme Commander 2 for the first time, trying out the built-in Tutorial is advised. Step by step, it will introduce you to the Armored Command Unit controls, beginning with Scanning. By using the directional keys, you'll be able to quickly survey the battlefield surrounding you. This doesn't rotate the camera, however. To accomplish that, you'll want to Spin it. This is accomplished by depressing the Space Bar, and using the mouse to rotate your viewpoint. Likewise, you can adjust the camera's Pitch by continuing to hold down the Space Bar, and pushing the mouse forward or backward. Lastly, Zooming is accomplished through use of your mouse's scroll wheel. Now that you've learned how to gain your bearings, you'll want to control the units themselves. Naturally, you'll start things off by selecting your Armored Command UnitA.K.A. the "ACU"with a simple click. Afterward, you'll be entrusted with pointing some tanks toward their final destination. This, too, is made easy, as the very path they're to take will already be marked for you. When you try to highlight the tanks, however, you'll find that clicking only selects one at a time. As you'll want all of them to relocate, click the open space to the upper left of their group, andwhile continuing to hold the mouse button downdrag toward the lower right of the units. This should create a box, and when they're surrounded by it, release the mouse button. Voilayou've selected them all. At this point, move the camera to reveal the red arrows designating their goal. Use the right mouse button to click it, and they'll be on their way. At last, it's time to fight! You're already familiar with picking your units, soto dispatch them against your foesuse the right mouse button again to pick an enemy, and the destruction will begin. Don't let your ACU sit idle, either, as it can participate. Once you've cleared out the nearby enemy buildings, you'll learn that your ACU and Engineers can Capture enemy
