Update: Chris Taylor offers a comment about the state of the company, and what will happen to the Kickstarter project he just launched.
Gas Powered Games may have only just launched a Kickstarter for their next game, Wildman. However, it appears that Chris Taylor's studio may have been using the crowdfunding platform in an attempt to stave off its financial troubles.
Taylor has confirmed to Kotaku that "we do have a layoff," but did not offer any further details, saying that "we'll be updating our Kickstarter as well with details very soon."

Work continues on improving Chris Taylor's real-time strategy game Supreme Commander 2, which has just received a massive patch improving the behavior and options of the game's AI.
The previous patch made several changes to the multiplayer offering, bringing a much-desired 1v1 Ranked Mode with leaderboards to the game. Read more »

A playable demo for the Xbox 360 version of Chris Taylor's real-time strategy game Supreme Commander 2 should be available today for Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Xbox Live Silver members will have to wait until April 14.

RTS games on consoles usually require unique control schemes to work. Gas Powered Games and Square-Enix's Supreme Commander 2 makes use of radial menus for the Xbox 360 version, which was released today.

Users are reporting that Supreme Commander 2, which uses Steamworks as its DRM, will not properly launch through Steam despite being released officially at midnight PST last night.

Valve have announced that Gas Powered Games and Square-Enix's Supreme Commander 2 is now available for pre-loading ahead of the strategy game's March 2, 2010 release date. A demo of the game was released on Steam yesterday along with confirmation that the game will utilize Steamworks for DRM.

Supreme Commander 2, Chris Taylor's RTS follow-up to 2007's Supreme Commander, will be using Valve's Steamworks program for its DRM. All copies of Supreme Commander 2, digitally obtained or purchased in out-dated box form, will require an installation of Steam for validation.
Additionally, a demo of the title is now available for download through Steam ahead of the game's March 2, 2010 release date. Give it a try and if you like it go ahead and pre-order it on Steam. You'll save yourself $5. The Xbox 360 version is set to release on March 18, 2010.

Gas Powered Games' strategy sequel will hit North America in PC form on March 2, with the Xbox 360 edition following March 16.

Narrowing down the general 2010 release of Supreme Commander 2, publisher Square Enix has issued several new robot-tastic screenshots and revealed that Gas Powered Games' PC and Xbox 360 strategy sequel will hit European territories in spring.
The company has yet to confirm if the spring release window also applies to North America, though it seems likely as Square Enix has recently been shipping many of its North American and European releases within close proximity of one another.
