Do you love Street Fighter enough to pay $150 for a fancy box packed with SF goodies including four games, an 11-disc soundtrack, an 8" light-up Ryu statue, and a replica of the fighting man's black belt? If so, why, what a happy coincidence, as Capcom today announced such a set to celebrate 25 years of the beloved franchise.

Capcom has been at odds with its fans over its DLC practices. However, although Namco Bandai and Capcom collaborated on Street Fighter x Tekken, the two companies don't quite adopt the same business strategies. Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has stated he doesn't plan to ever charge for characters.
"This isn’t really directed at Capcom, I have always said this, but I see the characters and their move sets as chess pieces - they are essential items necessary in the game and we would never sell any of those individually."

At Capcom's "Captivate" event, the company announced an unsurprising but nevertheless nifty feature for Street Fighter X Tekken. Once the Vita version hits this fall, you can play cross-platform against PlayStation 3 owners, via Wi-Fi or 3G. We would say to play 3G at your own risk against console owners with months of experience and access to fight sticks, but that's your prerogative.

Two worlds no one ever thought would collide. I don't mean on a conceptual level; I can grasp the idea of fighters from Capcom's Street Fighter and Namco's Tekken squaring off. From a mechanical perspective, however, nobody would have foreseen a way for 2D and 3D fighting to co-exist. Or, as the case turned out to be, the flattening of Tekken to 2D that will leave many of its fans wanting. Street Fighter x Tekken (SFxT) forms an unlikely tag team, but will satisfy many fans of Capcom's long line of crossover fighters.

In a response to a Better Business Bureau complaint, Capcom says of Street Fighter x Tekken DLC being on the disc already that there's 'no distinction' between that and a full download other than delivery mechanism. It's probably time to start calling this content something other than "downloadable" then. Newly found trophies for the PS3 point to more story content coming our way for Batman: Arkham City. It also sounds like Robin may make it out of the challenge maps and out on his own for some of the extra adventuring. And the PlayStation 3 got a nice addition to its entertainment options today with Amazon's instant video service hitting the console complete with access for Amazon Prime members to 17,000+ free to stream shows and movies.

Yoshinori Ono is a well-liked icon in certain gaming circles. As producer on the Street Fighter franchise, he's credited for the recent revival of the fighting genre. He's known for his dedication to the community, and can be seen participating in goofy stunts. For example, he recreated a random scene from the live action Street Fighter movie.

Capcom announced that the Vita version of Street Fighter x Tekken would feature 12 additional characters not included with the launch version of the game. Eventually, after some pestering, Capcom had to admit that the 12 characters would come to the consoles as DLC.
Today, Capcom revealed that all 12 characters--Blanka, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Elena, Dudley, Alisa, Bryan, Christie, Jack, Lars, and Lei--will be downloadable in a $20 (1600 Microsoft Points) bundle. They will be unlockable "soon after the PlayStation Vita version launches later this year."

In just a few days, fans will be able to play what should've been an impossibility: a crossover between the world warriors of Street Fighter and the kings of Tekken. Ahead of its March 6th release, Capcom held a launch party for Street Fighter x Tekken in downtown Los Angeles. There, I caught up with Capcom's community manager, Seth Killian.
I brought up the recent announcement of the Vita version of SFxT and how it would introduce a dozen new characters. While it was exciting to learn about the new additions (including Killian's personal favorite, Elena), I brought up concerns of how soon these characters would reach console players. Killian assured me that console players would get these characters at some point. "We'll find a way to make sure that console fans are happy, as well."

The PlayStation Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken is coming a bit later than the others, but it will sport a sizable expanded roster. The game will include twelve new characters when it hits in the fall. The console versions of the game are due March 6.
