Blizzard servers hacked, some personal info compromised

Perhaps it's been too long since you've reset your password in a mad attempt to secure your privacy? Blizzard has announced that they have discovered "unauthorized and illegal access into our internal network."

In a statement, the company says that there's "no evidence" that any financial information, including credit cards, billing address, and real names, has been compromised. Blizzard notes that their investigation is ongoing, "but so far nothing suggests that these pieces of information have been accessed."

Blizzard documentary celebrates 20-year history

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, much-loved developer Blizzard Entertainment has released a lengthy retrospective documentary delving into, and retelling, its history.

The 48-minute video spans from Blizzard's beginnings as Silicon & Synapse, formed in 1991 by a handful of UCLA graduates, through to the present day, when it's known and loved for series including StarCraft, Diablo and Warcraft. Heaps of Blizzard luminaries appear, offering opinions and anecdotes about the company whose games we so adore. Read more »

Blizzard Sues Second Korean Network Over Unlicensed StarCraft: Brood War Broadcasts

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Blizzard had filed a lawsuit in South Korea against MBCPlus Media, which operates the MBCGame television network and airs professional StarCraft: Brood War leagues and tournaments.

Now, Blizzard has sued OnGameNetwork (OGN) for broadcasting an unauthorized Brood War league. (translation via TeamLiquid.net). The situation is a bit different from the MBCGame lawsuit because OGN had successfully negotiated for a broadcast sub-license from Gretech for a previous competition. Read more »

Blizzard Sues Korean Television Network Over Unauthorized StarCraft: Brood War Tournament

Back in May, Blizzard signed an exclusive deal with Gretech in South Korea to carry and sub-license broadcast rights to its games including StarCraft: Brood War and StarCraft II. Companies that had been running Brood War tournaments and broadcasting them were required to negotiate terms with Gretech in order to continue legally, according to Blizzard and Gretech.

Blizzard Signs Exclusive Broadcast Deal with GOM for South Korea

Blizzard may have just dealt the deathblow to the Korean eSports Players Association (KeSPA) and existing professional StarCraft leagues in South Korea. The company has signed an exclusive broadcast deal (via TeamLiquid.net) with Gretech-GomTV, which will be the only company licensed to broadcast leagues, tournaments, or gameplay for all Blizzard games.

Korean StarCraft Corruption Confirmed; 11 Players Implicated

Last month, reports from South Korea broke that players and organizations were involved in illegal match-fixing within the country's lucrative professional gaming scene for Blizzard's RTS.

TeamLiquid.net has translated a report from Newsis.com that confirms that match-fixing has occurred, implicating 16 invididuals: "11 current and ex-progamers, 3 brokers, and 2 individuals who used inside information on the fixing to place bets." Read more »

Blizzard Ceases Negotiations With Korean eSports Agency; Fate of Korean Pro-StarCraft Unknown

According to an interview in South Korea's Yonhap News (via Daum), which was translated by TeamLiquid.net forum member Waxangel, Blizzard has ceased talks with the Korean e-Sports Players Association (KeSPA).
