Modders Rebuilding S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with Cryengine 2

PC Gamer reports that an incredibly ambitious Russian mod team called World of Stalker has embarked on the monumental task of recreating GSC's survival-horror shooter series, .S.T.A.L.K.E.R., as a Crysis mod.

The team has dubbed the project 'Cryzone - Sector 23," and has released some early video footage (with Russian voice-over) that we've embedded after the break. Cryengine 2's brand new physics engine seems to improve things quite a bit over the original game, and you can already see the original game shining through, despite the early stages of the makeover. Games for Windows Live Marketplace Adds New Titles, Puts Old Prince of Persias on Sale

The "Games on Demand" section of Microsoft's digital distribution platform Games for Windows Live "will soon be the home of day-and-date game releases from the industry's biggest names," the company declared today.

Alongside the day-and-date releases, which kicked off today with Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands PC, the company will be adding more games to the online catalog, including those that don't utilize Games for Windows Live functionality. Read more »

Shack PSA: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Now $5 on Steam

In its latest weekend sale, Valve's digital distribution service Steam is offering GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl for only $5--a savings of 75%.

Published by THQ, the post-apocalyptic RPG-shooter was released initially released in 2007. A second entry in the series, a prequel subtitled Clear Sky, followed this year.

GameTap Signs THQ Games: Company of Heroes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Titan Quest, More

Subscription-based PC gaming service GameTap has agreed to bring a number of games published by THQ to the service, the company announced today.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Patch 1.006 Released

More S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Games on the Way
