The soul still burns... every time we hear about a misguided port for iOS. Following the footsteps of Street Fighter, Namco Bandai has announced a touch-screen port of the original Soul Calibur for iOS devices.
Available later this month, the iOS port is based on the Dreamcast original, and will feature all 19 fighters and a plethora of modes: arcade, time attack, survival, extra survival, practice, and museum.

Two new demos are available on the Xbox Live Marketplace today, allowing you to sample Alone in the Dark and Wall-E.
The demo for Eden Games' Alone in the Dark, which was released back in June for PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii, is a 1.35GB download and includes parts from the first and second episode of the game.
The Wall-E demo from Heavy Iron Studios is a 1.44GB download, and offers the opportunity to play as Wall-E or his ladyfriend EVE as they explore a desolate Earth. Based on the Pixar movie, Wall-E is available for PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP.

Despite assurances from developer Namco that the Xbox Live Arcade version of Soul Calibur would feature "no major additions or subtractions" over the beloved Dreamcast edition, the recent port lacks the original's substantial Mission Mode.
Essentially the game's single-player campaign, Mission Mode provided players with hours of additional gameplay through various objective-based fights, and also served as a means to unlock new content. All of the unlockable items, such as characters and concept art, are now immediately available at the game's outset. Read more »

Namco's re-release of the Dreamcast and arcade fighting classic Soul Calibur will arrive as one of the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade downloads this Wednesday, July 2.

Namco Bandai sends along a new Soul Calibur Xbox Live Arcade trailer, offering a minute of footage featuring Voldo, Maxi, Yoshimitsu and Cervantes.
A port of the 1999 Dreamcast fighter, Soul Calibur Xbox Live Arcade is expected later this year.

Update: Gamer.nl staffer Erwin Bergervoet has informed Shacknews that Atari also asked the Dutch gaming site to pull its 5/10 review of Alone in the Dark posted Thursday, a day before the game's official European street date.
"Within an hour [after posting], Atari called to have the review pulled off, claiming there was an embargo till Friday," Bergervoet said in a comment to Shacknews. "Our review copy was sent directly to us by Atari and [was] not a pirated copy. They explicitly told [Gamer.nl] that they only let high scoring reviews break the post-release embargo date." Atari today announced that the PC version of the new Alone in the Dark game will ship with SecuROM activation. Compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista, the activation process means that following installation, you will have to go online to download an additional component that allows the game to run.
Once the game has been activated, you can play the game while offline. Uninstalling the game and revoking the serial number allows you to install the game on another computer. More information is available at aitdunlock.com.Already released in Europe, the Eden Games developed survival horror game will be released in North America next week for PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Publisher Atari has released a new trailer for the Wii edition of Alone in the Dark, showcasing the functions of the Wii remote control scheme within the title.
The Wii and PS2 versions of the title was produced by Hydravision Entertainment, while Eden Games handled development on the Xbox 360 and PC. Atari announced earlier this week that the game has gone gold and arrives June 24 release. Read more »

Publisher Atari has announced that PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii editions of Alone in the Dark have entered the manufacturing process and will hit North American retailers on June 24, with the game arriving in Europe on June 20.
The DVD-style reimagining of the classic survival horror franchise was developed by Eden Games for Xbox 360 and PC, with Hydravision Entertainment handling the PS2 and Wii versions. Read more »

Atari has released a new video for Eden's Alone in the Dark (PC, PS2, PS3, X360, Wii), focusing on "The Enemy" which can appear anywhere and can make anyone in the game world attack you. The clip runs for nearly three minutes and features developer narration. The new Alone in the Dark will be released later this month on all platforms except PlayStation 3, which will get the game in September.

Atari has released a few new Alone in the Dark screens, one of which gives us a glimpse at the horror game's DVD-style, time-warping menu that was detailed last week.
The game will allow players to fast forward or rewind through its many "episodes," an attempt to keep the frustration of getting stuck on a puzzle to a minimum. Of course, the game will still require you to complete all of the basic content before moving on to the final levels. Read more »

Atari's horror reboot Alone in the Dark will feature a DVD-style chapter menu, which will allow players to rewind or fast-forward through the game, according to GameShark.
If a player is having a hard time with a particular sequence of the puzzle-riddled game, they can skip past it via the chapter select menu, moving on to complete another section. All of the "episodes" must eventually be completed to unlock the ending. Read more »

Reversing today's trend of rumors and unofficial assets, publisher Atari has issued several flame-filled screenshots from Eden Studios' Alone in the Dark.
The reimagining of the classic survival horror franchise is set to hit PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Wii on June 24, with a PlayStation 3 version following later this year.
