As an old-school SEGA fan, I've still yet to come to terms with Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing. On one hand, it's chock full of references to both classic and lesser-known franchises, including (as this new trailer reveals) Crazy Taxi and Space Channel 5.

With the Xbox 360 edition of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing enabling players to race as their Xbox Avatars, SEGA today unsurprisingly confirmed that the upcoming mascot racers will sport similar functionality on Wii.
Yes, joining the ranks of Wii Sports Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort, Guitar Hero 5, Tony Hawk: Ride and many others, Miis will be playable characters in SEGA All-Stars Racing Wii. Read more »

"As a little gift for Christmas, SEGA gives to you [guitar riffs]," begins this festive trailer for for Sumo Digital's upcoming mascot racer. And unlike the last time we heard this ditty, this take on "The Twelve Days of Christmas" doesn't include any sort of fecal attack.
Coming to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is due out in "early 2010," with the Xbox version packing exclusive racers. Read more »

As suggested months ago by a leaked Sega document, Rare's platforming mascots Banjo and Kazooie have joined the roster of racers in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.
Of course, given that the furry duo is owned by Xbox 360 maker Microsoft, Banjo and Kazooie will only appear in the Xbox 360 version. They are joined by the addition of Xbox Avatars as playable characters, allowing players to race as their virtual selves, that is, so long as they're playing on Xbox 360. Read more »

It appears that Ryo Hazuki's search for sailors has once again brought him to a foreign land, as the Shenmue star will be playable in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.
It may not be the long-awaited third entry in Yu Suzuki's epic adventure series, but at the very least you'll have another chance to race forklifts. And who knows, maybe Sonic or that monkey from Samba de Amigo will be able to help Ryo on his quest? Read more »

Following the successful mashup of Sega Superstars Tennis, the various beloved characters of Sega's rich and diverse gaming history will once again be facing off against each other early next year, this time in a Mario Kart-esque battle racer.
Coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing--conceivably the spiritual sequel to the oft-forgotten Sonic Drift series--will allow for four-player offline races and online matches for up to eight competitors. Read more »
