PC users are getting a triple-dose of Sonic today, as Sega is bringing two games and a piece of DLC to the platform all at once. It might seem like these are just suddenly popping up on you out of no where, but it's Sonic, and that's kind of what he does.
Both Sonic CD and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 are available for the first time on Steam. The service is also hosting a Sonic sale so you can speed it up on the cheap. Plus, you can grab the Casino Night Pinball Stage for Sonic Generations.

As part of Sega's ongoing celebration of the 20th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, the company is making a documentary chronicling the history of Sonic. The first part, released today, shows how the the hedgehog was created. The video includes footage of various Sega alumuni, including Peter Moore and Yuji Naka.
So what was the original inspiration for Sonic's gameplay? And why did the company rally behind the mascot? You'll have to watch to see for yourself.

Sonic Generations releases in the U.S. tomorrow and Europe on November 4, bringing both 2D and 3D perspectives to a number of both new and classic levels for the series' speedy blue hedgehog namesake. Generations celebrates twenty years of Sonic--an anniversary that's sure to make some of use feel really old--but it's a little surprising find out that Sega doesn't appear to have any more plans for Classic Sonic in the near future.

Sega is celebrating Sonic's long and storied history with Sonic Generations, bringing together both the classic chubby Sonic and the new slimmer, sleeker, inexplicably more talkative Sonic. And apparently, this trek down Nostalgia Lane is giving Sonic a boost, as Sega announced today that it's the most pre-ordered Sonic game in the hedgehog's 20-year history.

Sonic Generations is laying the nostalgia on pretty thick. Between old-school chubby Sonic and clear reference Green Hill Zone, Sega is making sure this hits the part of your brain that pines for the 16-bit era. And since the game is already steeped in retro-goodness anyway, they must have figured "what the heck?" and thrown in the original Sonic the Hedgehog for fun.

Finally! It's time to get exactly what you've been asking for. A second demo for Sonic Generations is coming very soon, and this time, you'll be able to play as the taller, cooler, lock-on-ier Modern Sonic.
Unlike the time-limited first demo, the second demo will allow you to race through Green Hill Zone as both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic.

City Escape, Seaside Hill, and Speed Highway are the three re-imagined zones shown off in all their updated glory in the new Sonic Generations 'Dreamcast' trailer. Folks will be able to zip through all of these levels from either the "modern" 3D perspective or the "classic" 2D perspective from older Sonic titles.

The Sonic Generations demo released yesterday supposedly contains files that reference all the stages in the final game. A member of the Sonic Retro forums (via Game Informer) posted a chronological list of the levels that will apparently appear in the upcoming game:
