When Skullgirls started a crowd-funding campaign to create a new character, it hoped to make $150,000. It hit that goal in a single day, necessitating the formation of some stretch goals, and the campaign has now ended at a whopping $829,829. And it's a digital download sort of week for new releases with Fez, Skullgirls, and Tribes: Ascend leading the pack.

Revenge Labs' gorgeous hand-drawn 2D fighting game has just been dated. Skullgirls will be available on the PlayStation Store on April 10th, and Xbox Live Arcade on April 11th for $14.99 (1200 Microsoft Points).
For the uninitiated, Skullgirls promises "the most frames of animation per character of any fighting game." And although a downloadable game, it promises the standard features of a retail fighting game, such as online multiplayer, story modes, and training modes.

Reverge Labs' upcoming 2D fighter, Skullgirls, won't release in 2011, as expected. The developer is now citing a release "early in the first quarter of 2012." Reverge attributes the delay, in part, to its "gameplay first development approach," and asserts that it'll be using the extra time to polish up the game.
