Shatter Developer Working on New Music Game

On his blog, musician Module reveals that he has started work on the soundtrack for a second videogame collaboration with developer Sidhe. Their first joint effort resulted in Shatter, the soundtrack for which received several awards.

He describes the new game as "pretty massive" and notes he expects it to take over a year's worth of work again. "We will be pushing the audio experience and trying out lots of cool interactive music driven by game-play along with 5.1 mixes," he adds. Read more »

PSN Puzzle-Shooter Shatter Coming to Steam

New Zealand-based developer Sidhe will be bringing its award-winning puzzle-shooter Shatter to the PC via Valve's Steam digital distribution platform this month.

The move to PC--a PlayStation 3 version hit in July 2009--will also bring new game modes (Endless Mode, Endless Co-op Multiplayer, Time Attack Mode and Time Attack Co-op Multiplayer) along with Steam achievements and leaderboards. Read more »

I spent most of this holiday Monday playing and judging the finalist games in the IGF main competition. When you have some time I highly recommend checking out the nominees. A number of them have free demos, some also have paid full versions that aren't particularly expensive, and at the very least you will find videos of the game in action.

PlayStation Store Update: Wipeout HD, Killzone 2 DLC

This week's PlayStation Store update features two anticipated DLC packs for Wipeout HD and Killzone 2.

The Wipeout HD "Fury" DLC adds new ships, maps and game modes to the futuristic racer, as well as an additional single-player campaign. Killzone 2's "Napalm & Cordite" pack adds two multiplayer maps and two weapons to the shooter's roster. Read more »

Brick Breaker Shatter Gets Release Date, Price

GripShift and Speed Racer The Videogame developer Sidhe today announced that its downloadable next release, Shatter, will be released on PlayStation 3 come July 23.

Described by the studio as a "retro-inspired brick-breaking game...with a modern-crafted production approach," including boss battles and power-ups, Shatter will sell for $7.99.
