It's been a long time since we've heard from Sony about their plans to adapt Shadow of the Colossus into a film. However, the project is apparently still alive. According to a new report, Josh Trank, director of the recent Chronicle has been signed to lead the project.

It appears that months of rumors pointing at a possible "remastered in high-def" release of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus can be put to rest, for the most part.
According to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu [via Siliconera], high-def versions of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will launch as individual titles, not as a bundle, when it arrives in Japan. No release date information was revealed. Read more »

A Walmart.com listing has sparked a fresh round of rumours that Team Ico's much-beloved PlayStation 2 exclusives Ico and Shadow of the Colossus will be revamped and re-released in a bundle for the PlayStation 3.
Anonymous "industry sources" have told Eurogamer that the bundle is indeed real and will be released in March or April of 2011 for around $40, the price Walmart lists too. Read more »

Yesterday, LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule clued us into the Team ICO downloadable content for its physics-driven PlayStation 3 platformer, promising "costumes, stickers and sound effects" inspired by Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
Following through on the Ico and Yorda costumes, the studio has now unveiled three Colossus costumes, featuring protagonist Wander plus foes Quadratus and Gaius. Quadratus even features a tiny (presumably static) rendition of Wander on his arm, who is no doubt looking to drive a blade into the beast's glowing weak point--how cute! Read more »

Justin Marks, the writer developing the film adaptation of Team Ico's Shadow of the Colossus, recently discussed the process of tackling the project in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter blog Risky Biz.
"With a lot of games there are so many elements in the universe you spend your time tearing down and tearing down," said Marks. "What's nice about this game is that it's so sparse so you can start building right away." Read more »

Sony and Team Ico's beloved PlayStation 2 adventure game Shadow of the Colossus is set to become an actual feature film, claim Variety and The Hollywood Report.
The film will be written by Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li scribe Justin Marks, with The Scorpion King and Dune remake producer Kevin Misher serving as producer. Read more »

During a joint panel at GDC 2009, the developers of Shadow of Colossus, Fallout 3 and No More Heroes all spoke of their new projects.
Mark MacDonald moderated the panel between Shadow of the Colossus/Ico creator Fumito Ueda, No More Heroes creator Goichi Suda, and Fallout 3 developer Emil Pagliarulo.
