There are a lot of things with romantic themes today, and the newest Indie Royale Valentine's Bundle 2.0 seems to follow suit, but in name only. The bundle bucks the trend of "wilting flowers and packed restaurants" for "unromantic alien blasting, striking tower defense action & heaps of classic platforming."

Apple may like to brand itself as the classier alternative to PC--but that's going to change once Serious Sam 3 makes its way to the Mac on April 23rd. It'll be the first time Serious Sam and the headless screaming minions he fights will grace OS X.

Earlier this week, it was discovered that pirated versions of developer Croteam's recently released shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE 'features' a special guest-star hellbent on player destruction.
Pirated versions of the game include an immortal pinkish scorpion, dashing toward Sam intent on halting his progress. A Croteam representative confirmed to Shacknews that the enemy was included as a form of hilarious DRM to combat piracy. Sure, it will probably be cracked shortly, but it's a nice reminder that you shouldn't be illegally downloading games if you want to enjoy them immediately.

Serious Sam 3: BFE arrived for PC on Direct2Drive, GetGames, and Steam earlier this week (it's expected on 360 and PS3 any time now as well). If you haven't picked it up yet and were wondering whether it still rocked, nothing beats seeing for yourself. This video shows about two minutes of the game in action with plenty of blood-splattering action shooting up everything from naked bird ladies to the classic headless bomb-toting berserkers. And, as an added bonus, it includes subtitle comments from Devolver Digital's larger-than-life CFO, Fork Parker. At the very least, it will knock out any remaining cobwebs from a post-feast nap.

A new trailer for Serious Sam 3: BFE points players to a non-existent feature: the Serious Helpline. Watch as "Rich Knuckles" fields questions from a variety of consumers, including a few unaware that Serious Sam doesn't need to face-off against simple foes like "Nazi Zombies."
Serious Sam 3: BFE launches for the PC on October 18. The game is also expected to launch on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Developer Croteam is calling Serious Sam 3: BFE "the best Serious Sam game we've ever made." You'll be able to test that claim when the game releases on PC on October 18th.
The over-the-top arcade FPS is running a number of pre-order promotions across various digital retailers. While the regular selling price of BFE will be $39.99, pre-orders will be entitled to an additional 10% discount. Additionally, Steam users that already own a previous Serious Sam game will get a "super serious" additional 10% discount.

Croteam is sticking to its physically impossible to carry by any normal man guns, and are creating a modern-day love letter to shooters of yore. Example: How many guns can Sam carry in Serious Sam 3: BFE? The simple answer is, "All the guns."
Another classic relic, thought lost in the era of modern day gaming included in the new Serious Sam adventure? Split screen multiplayer on PC.

QUICKTAKE: Serious Sam 3: BFE brings the run-and-gun killer back for his first original adventure since 2005. While Sam's original encounters have recently been given the HD treatment, developer Croteam is finally bringing the character back for a new romp through the alien-riddled streets of Egypt. Though Serious Sam 3 is built upon an advanced and impressive new engine, the game retains its classic gameplay core, offering mindless and addictive fun during my hands-on demo.

A trio of indie developers are putting unusual spins on Serious Sam in three downloadable games to promote, publisher Devolver Digital has announced. As marketing campaigns go--and we presume this is all part of the one for Croteam's Serious Sam 3--The Serious Sam Indie Series certainly is interesting.
Serious Sam: Double D is described as "a frantic side-scrolling shooter" with "killer hand-drawn artwork" and an "innovative weapon stacking system." Made by Explosionade developer Mommy's Best Games, it'll hit PC and consoles. Read more »

When Serious Sam 3: BFE developer Croteam revealed recently that its long-awaited shooter would be released this summer, an official announcement was promised "soon." That arrived today, along with new screenshots and a fresh round of details.
Though its depiction of run-down, 22nd century Egypt is stylistically closer to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare than the colourful previous games in the series, fear not, as Serious Sam 3 is described as "a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom." Besides, Modern Warfare doesn't have hulking, great, cartoony monsters striding through its cities. Read more »
