Serious Sam 3, Double D XXL on XBLA this fall

Though Serious Sam 3 launched on PC last November, Croteam was curiously silent about its crazy FPS's promised console editions until yesterday. It'll arrive on Xbox Live Arcade this fall alongside a revamped version of indie tie-in Serious Sam Double D, but there's still no word on PS3 releases.

Serious Sam 3 punishes pirates with immortal scorpion

Serious Sam 3 punishes pirates with immortal scorpion

Earlier this week, it was discovered that pirated versions of developer Croteam's recently released shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE 'features' a special guest-star hellbent on player destruction.

Pirated versions of the game include an immortal pinkish scorpion, dashing toward Sam intent on halting his progress. A Croteam representative confirmed to Shacknews that the enemy was included as a form of hilarious DRM to combat piracy. Sure, it will probably be cracked shortly, but it's a nice reminder that you shouldn't be illegally downloading games if you want to enjoy them immediately.

Serious Sam 3: BFE video shows two minutes of alien-fragging game action

Serious Sam 3: BFE arrived for PC on Direct2Drive, GetGames, and Steam earlier this week (it's expected on 360 and PS3 any time now as well). If you haven't picked it up yet and were wondering whether it still rocked, nothing beats seeing for yourself. This video shows about two minutes of the game in action with plenty of blood-splattering action shooting up everything from naked bird ladies to the classic headless bomb-toting berserkers. And, as an added bonus, it includes subtitle comments from Devolver Digital's larger-than-life CFO, Fork Parker. At the very least, it will knock out any remaining cobwebs from a post-feast nap.

While the regular selling price of BFE will be $39.99, pre-orders will be entitled to an additional 10% discount. Additionally, Steam users that already own a previous Serious Sam game will get a "super serious" additional 10% discount.

Serious Sam 3 includes split screen co-op

Croteam is sticking to its physically impossible to carry by any normal man guns, and are creating a modern-day love letter to shooters of yore. Example: How many guns can Sam carry in Serious Sam 3: BFE? The simple answer is, "All the guns."

Another classic relic, thought lost in the era of modern day gaming included in the new Serious Sam adventure? Split screen multiplayer on PC.

E3 2011: Serious Sam 3 BFE

QUICKTAKE: Serious Sam 3: BFE brings the run-and-gun killer back for his first original adventure since 2005. While Sam's original encounters have recently been given the HD treatment, developer Croteam is finally bringing the character back for a new romp through the alien-riddled streets of Egypt. Though Serious Sam 3 is built upon an advanced and impressive new engine, the game retains its classic gameplay core, offering mindless and addictive fun during my hands-on demo.

Serious Sam 3 unveiled with new screenshots

Serious Sam 3 unveiled with new screenshots

When Serious Sam 3: BFE developer Croteam revealed recently that its long-awaited shooter would be released this summer, an official announcement was promised "soon." That arrived today, along with new screenshots and a fresh round of details.

Though its depiction of run-down, 22nd century Egypt is stylistically closer to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare than the colourful previous games in the series, fear not, as Serious Sam 3 is described as "a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom." Besides, Modern Warfare doesn't have hulking, great, cartoony monsters striding through its cities. Read more »

Though developer Croteam has had its hands full with high-def revamps of Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter, it's also been toiling away on an all-new entry in the chaotic shooter series, one it plans to complete within the next year.

"Serious Sam 3 is happening for sure," Croteam CEO Roman Ribaric told Destructoid. "It is currently planned to be finished in 2010." Little is known of the sequel, though Ribaric previously said it will "leave the cartoony look [of Serious Sam 2] behind." Read more »

Croteam Killing 'Cartoony Look' for Serious Sam 3

Serious Sam developer Croteam says that the next sequel in the fast-paced shooter series will leave behind the stylized visuals of Serious Sam 2.

"I believe Serious Sam fans would want to hear the following two things," said Croteam chief Roman Ribaric. "First, Serious Sam 3 will play like the original Serious Sam. And second, we'll leave the cartoony look behind."

Added Ribaric: "As for standing up to other games: simply, if it's good to play, it's good to play. Serious Sam games belong to their own unique fast-paced FPS genre and should best be compared to previous Serious Sam games." Read more »
