Two founding members of a group organizing the boycott of Left 4 Dead 2 were recently flown in to Valve headquarters to see the game for themselves.
The two boycotters (shown left, flanking Valve president Gabe Newell) announced their playtest on the group's Steam page, reporting that Left 4 Dead 2 "seemed balanced and 'tight' and did not feel like a rushed job." Read more »

Tucked in a press release announcing Left 4 Dead 2's arrival at the Penny Arcade Expo was the news that Valve would be offering an exclusive melee weapon to those that pre-order the zombie shooter sequel from "select retailers."
The weapon is an American baseball bat, and has its own unique characteristics--in other words, it's not just a re-skinned version of the cricket bat, Valve told us today. Read more »

With PAX 09 in full swing, Valve has issued new screenshots and artwork from Left 4 Dead 2, showing off more of the zombie shooter sequel's "Dark Carnival" campaign.
Also provided was our first look at the new "Jockey" Boss monster, with Valve explaining that it "lets you attack lone Survivors and wrestle control of their movement away from them-into fire, off ledges, or straight into the middle of a zombie horde." Read more »

Valve has released the first screenshot of the "Dark Carnival" campaign of its upcoming zombie shooter sequel Left 4 Dead 2.
The theme park-themed campaign is the third of five campaigns to be announced, joining the "The Parish"--set in New Orleans' French Quarter--and the murky "Swamp Fever." Read more »

A new campaign for Left 4 Dead 2 centered around a theme park was revealed tonight on GameTrailers TV.
The campaign, dubbed The Fairgrounds, will take place at an amusement park called "Whispering Oaks."
Also announced was a new weapon, the katana sword, easily one of the most requested melee weapons by fans. Read more »

To celebrate its San Diego Comic-Con showing of Left 4 Dead 2, developer Valve has released a handful of screenshots and details from the zombie shooter sequel.
Among the new assets is a look at the mudmen, the "uncommon common" foe of the Swamp Fever campaign, and a render of a new Boss monster called "The Spitter." Read more »

Valve chief Gabe Newell says that he is "super interested" in the idea of collecting funding for game development projects directly from the fans that will eventually buy the games.
"One of the areas that I am super interested in right now is how we can do financing from the community," said Newell to ABC's Good Game, a snippet noticed by Kotaku. Read more »

Continuing its slow drip of Left 4 Dead 2 details, developer Valve has released a new screenshot from the game's "Swamp Fever" campaign.
In all, the zombie shooter sequel will sport five new campaigns, with only one other, "The Parish," having been revealed thus far. Valve is also being cautious in revealing the "20-plus new items," which will deliver a frying pan, cricket bat and chainsaw, among others. Read more »

Pre-ordering Left 4 Dead 2 from "participating retailers or Steam" will provide "advanced access to the demo," Valve marketing VP Doug Lombardi has informed Joystiq.
Due sometime before the launch of Left 4 Dead 2 on November 17, the downloadable demo will be available for both PC and Xbox 360, and will offer a taste of multiplayer. Read more »

Though Left 4 Dead 2 is slated to arrive on PC and Xbox 360 come November 17, developer Valve has reaffirmed that it will continue to support the original edition of its cooperative zombie shooter with as-yet-unspecified downloadable content.
"More info will be coming shortly on the [Left 4 Dead 1] DLC," Valve's Chet Faliszek told Shacknews, adding that the DLC will come in addition to enhancements, such as the promised team-based matchmaking update for the first Left 4 Dead. Read more »

Much to the chagrin of Half-Life fans, but to the pleasure of Left 4 Dead fiends, Valve announced a full sequel to its zombie shooter on Monday, set for a quick turn-around release on November 17.
