The Humble THQ Bundle may have raked in more money than almost another other Humble Bundle, but not everyone was thrilled with Humble's first AAA bundle. It was Windows-only, lacking the customary Mac and Linux versions, and also busted the 'no DRM' rule with Steamworks games. Pleasingly, counting the money isn't the only action THQ is taking after that, as the publisher's now looking at making Linux editions of games.

In what seems to be an odd move, Humble Bundle has teamed with publisher THQ to offer seven PC games in its traditional pay-what-you-want packs. It marks the first time Humble has bundled games from a large publisher, while packaging Windows-only games and using the Steam DRM.

In case you haven't noticed, it's usually pretty smart money-management to wait a year or so on new games. Take Saints Row: The Third, for example. Sure, you could have bought it new for sixty bucks at launch, but having held off on the gonzo-action game means that soon you'll be able to get the newly-announced "Full Package" instead.

If you have not yet experienced the out-and-out insanity that is Saints Row: The Third, pay attention. Steam is offering a free weekend of the game, along with a pretty hefty discount to grab the title if it wins you over with its wily charms. Which, if you have a sense of humor, it almost certainly will.

Sometimes when I'm bombing down Stillwater's main thoroughfare in a stolen car, looking for hapless victims to bludgeon with a huge purple sex toy, I often opine about how much classier the experience would be if I had a Penthouse Pet riding shotgun with me. Okay, not really. But should I ever change my mind, the 'Penthouse Pack'--released today for Saints Row: The Third--should fulfill that particular urge quite handily.

Among the cacophony of high-larious pranks this April Fool's Day, THQ teased another piece of content for Saints Row: The Third. Titled (ahem) "Enter the Dominatrix," the standalone expansion promised super powers, new weapons, and new recruits. Apparently THQ and Volition decided to make it happen for real, announcing it as a standalone expansion coming this fall.

THQ has been in some financial trouble, but it can thank a bombastic street gang for keeping its fourth-quarter earnings surprisingly positive. The company reported its fiscal results for the quarter ending March 31, 2012 today, and expects to report net sales between $160-170 million, above its outlook of $130-150 million. This is largely due to Saints Row: The Third.

The second mission pack for Saints Row: The Third is hitting today. The "Gangstas in Space" pack sees the heroes guiding up-and-coming actress Jenny Jaros through her Hollywood journey during the filming of the space-gangster epic.
As part of the pack, you'll get the Aegian alien ship, alien gang customization options, and two new homies: Kwilanna (played by Jaros) and Space Brutina. The pack should be rolling out to all systems later today, and to Europe and Asian regions tomorrow morning.

When you see a post containing the words "Team Fortress 2" and "headgear," you probably don't expect to see Saints Row: The Third sharing in the story. Today, THQ and Valve have announced that Team Fortress 2-inspired lids are coming to the PC version of the game.
Headgear that resemebles each of Team Fortress 2's characters will be added to the Steam version of Saints Row: The Third on Tuesday, January 17. The free update allows players to run through the streets of Steelport (clothing optional) disgused as their favorite character from Valve's free-to-play shooter.

Don't have the Saint's Row: The Third season pass? Well, all you cheapstakes will be able to get a free DLC pack next week, courtesy of "CheapyD," creator of popular video game deals website, CAG.
Self-described as a "c-list internet celebrity," CheapyD was imported into the world of Saints Row after winning a charity auction. In addition to seeing his iconic bald head, you'll also be able to hear over 200 recorded lines once you unlock him in the campaign. He'll be available as a "homie" once you've reached Shaundi's ex-boyfriend's apartment, after the assault on the armory.

After jumping out of (and into, and back out of) a moving plane, it's hard to believe Saints Row: The Third can keep its pace throughout the entire experience. Oh boy, does it. Volition's title, which in some instances can only be described as a fever dream, is over-the-top and fun. Saints Row: The Third isn't afraid to be nonsensical in its quest to be wholly entertaining. Sure, some of the gags fall flat, but it's crazy experience that goes beyond any other game in its genre (not the dildo bat genre, the open world one).
