Ridiculous Fishing and Badlands are official iOS 'Games of the Year'

It's the time of year for Game of the Year discussions, and Apple has once again crowned its official winners on its own iOS platforms. An update to the App Store lists Vlambeer's Ridiculous Fishing as the top iPhone game, and Frogmind's platformer Badland as the top iPad game.

Humble Mobile Bundle 3 features Android version of Ridiculous Fishing

Humble Bundle has gone mobile once again. Players can pay what they want for four games that unlock on Android devices. Those who pay more than the average will also receive two more games: the Medieval tower defense game Kingdom Rush and Vlambeer's Android adaptation of Ridiculous Fishing, which just released this week.

Each year, a panel of 50 industry experts evaluate a cavalcade of indie titles and select ten of the best games, based on gameplay and overall fun-factor, to display at PAX Prime in Seattle. Ridiculous Fishing update to 'double the content'

Ridiculous Fishing is a fairly substantial mobile game, but it's going to be getting much larger before the end of the year. Vlambeer head of business development Rami Ismail says that an update is coming that will effectively double the size of the existing game.

Fishing is a tough endeavor, one that isn't as easy as it looks on TV or in the movies. Homer Simpson once had an idea to dump a plugged-in bug zapper into a lake and it resulted in a whole lot of easy-to-catch (if somewhat high voltage) fish. That's a ridiculous idea. Yet it's not as ridiculous as some of the heavy artillery that's used in Ridiculous Fishing, the latest iOS title from Vlambeer (Super Crate Box), Greg Wohlwend (Puzzlejuice), and Zach Gage (Halcyon).
