Capcom is converting its two formerly Wii-exclusive Resident Evil rail shooters into PlayStation Move titles. The Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles are coming to the PS3 in one package, titled the "Resident Evil Chronicles: HD Collection." The bundle will be available for download via the PlayStation Network this June, while the individual games will be available "at a later date."
Like so many other Wii ports on PS3, PlayStation Move use is optional. You'll be able to play the shooter with a standard PS3 controller as well.

No additional details, including release date and pricing, have been announced.
The announcement continues a trend of HD revamps of Wii games on the PlayStation 3. Since the introduction of the Move motion controller, Sony's platform has seen ports of No More Heroes, Dead Space: Extraction, and more.

It's been fifteen years since the Resident Evil series first began giving gamers chills, when the first game launched on U.S. soil in 1996. Since then, the series has jumped to multiple platforms, introduced us to a wide variety of characters, and remained adamant that the best aim came from planting your feet firmly on the ground.
Capcom celebrated its longstanding series--first envisioned by game director Shinji Mikami--by releasing a trailer featuring clips over the long journey. Included in the trailer are short glimpses of the upcoming HD re-releases of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X and Resident Evil 4, as well as new footage of the Slant Six-developed side story, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. No Resident Evil game is complete without bizarre unlockable modes and costumes and The Darkside Chronicles certainly continues the trend, Capcom revealed today.
As well as an assortment of unlockable costumes ranging from mundane--Resident Evil 4 outfits--to baffling--western getups complete with chaps and spurs--the on-rails Wii shooter features a mode where zombies are transformed into possibly the only item more terrifying than the ravenous undead--the coagulated soy milk product known as tofu. "Gunshots signal a return to fear and darkness," declares this trailer for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. Then, a few frames later, it bills the game as "a terrifying gun shooting experience" with "horror so realistic it will make your pulse race."
Oh, and don't forget that "fate lies in the darkness." That's bound to be key when Cavia's on-rails Wii shooter makes its way to North American stores on November 17. Read more »

As expected, Capcom today officially announced Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. The sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, the Wii light-gun shooter hits this winter, revisiting the events of Resident Evil 2 and other games.
Capcom also revealed that Wii ports of the more traditional Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero entries are coming to North America under the Resident Evil "Classics" line. Both releases are based on the GameCube versions, with added motion controls. Read more »

Following through on Capcom's promise that Wii-owning Resident Evil fans would "be very happy very soon," word of a new Wii-bound Resident Evil game, dubbed Darkside Chronicles, has emerged from the pages of Japanese game magazine Famitsu.
A light-gun shooter similar to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii), Darkside Chronicles will again revisit past Resident Evil games in on-rails shooter form. As with Umbrella Chronciles, development will be shared between Capcom and Cavia. Read more »
