It's been fifteen years since the Resident Evil series first began giving gamers chills, when the first game launched on U.S. soil in 1996. Since then, the series has jumped to multiple platforms, introduced us to a wide variety of characters, and remained adamant that the best aim came from planting your feet firmly on the ground.

Capcom celebrated its longstanding series--first envisioned by game director Shinji Mikami--by releasing a trailer featuring clips over the long journey. The upcoming PSP Resident Evil title announced during Sony's E3 press conference is shaping up to be a unique twist on the horror series, according to Capcom.

"It's not a "remake" of a previous RE game, but an all-new title created specifically for the PSP platform, with the PSP Go in mind," said Capcom's Chris Kramer on the company's blog. Read more »

Capcom's acclaimed survival horror franchise Resident Evil is coming to the PSP in 2010 in a "whole new game designed specifically for the platform," Sony CEO Jack Tretton announced during the company's E3 press conference today.

Resident Evil Portable is due out next year, with no other details provided today.
