It's not difficult to see why Capcom picked up Dontnod Entertainment's Remember Me. It's a stylish brawler, with an interesting combo-building mechanic set in a fascinating futuristic world. The game takes full advantage of its memory-based narrative, offering interesting ways of interacting with people's memories. Yet, in spite of all the incredible things Remember Me does, it fails to execute on the fundamental gameplay mechanics. In short, it may look like a Capcom game--but it certainly doesn't play like one.
The future dreamt up by Dontnod is intriguing. People are able to store, share, and relive memories--and like a drug, many become dependent on the technology. The game begins with Nilin waking up from a memory-wiping operation, where an evil corporation has attempted to extract her memories. Now stricken with amnesia, she is intercepted by a group know as the "Errorists," that are trying to free people from the monolithic rule of memory technology.

Capcom's upcoming Remember Me has teased the escapades of memory hunter Nilin, and her ability to take the memories of her enemies. A new trailer shows exactly what she can do with them once she has gathered them.
"Nilin can render a stolen memory in real time and in three dimensions," said Dontnod Entertainment creative director Jean-Maxime Moris in the narrated video. Another special power Nilin has is the Memory Remix, which allows the player to change key details in a person's memory to make alter their behavior. Check out the video for an explanation of the process.

Dontnod Entertainment has said that casting Remember Me's Nilin as the lead in its upcoming action-adventure "just felt right," but the creative director Jean-Maxime Moris told Shacknews that the game is more about putting men and women on the same social and professional footing than the developer first envisioned.

Former memory hunter Nilin is going to have to do a lot of acrobatic punching, kicking and brawling in the upcoming cyberpunkish Remember Me. At least that's what's on display in the new trailer showing many of the enemies and bosses she will run up against, when the game comes out June 4 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Of course, if you'll be doing all the physical combat on the PC, Capcom was nice enough to release the PC specs for the game as well.

Former memory hunter Nilin will begin her quest to regain her thoughts and her identity when Dontnod Entertainment's Remember Me hits shelves on June 4, publisher Capcom announced today. That date isn't too far off from the May 2013 date Capcom originally revealed when it picked up the title in August.

With a title like Remember Me, you'd think that Dontnod Entertainment's upcoming game is a mind-bending point-and-click adventure. But, no. It is about punching and kicking many men in the face.
In a new video released by Capcom today, memory hunter Nilin gets her kicks in, facing off against the oddly-named Kid Xmas who runs a hacking channel in Neo-Paris called Channel Fear.

It was a bad weekend, Shack. Not that I should have expected any different from my perennial losers of sports teams. As a long-suffering Cleveland fan, my Browns and Indians lost late, and I fully expect my Cavaliers will regret choosing Dion Waiters with their first overall draft pick this year. The good news is all my teams should have high first round picks in their respective drafts next year. Cleveland would probably have better luck in Madden NFL 13, NBA 2K13 or Major League Baseball 2K12. I'm just so disgusted.
And now for some real gaming news.

Since announcing at E3 that it'd picked up Dontnod's cyberpunk game Adrift and renamed it Remember Me, Capcom has handled its marketing in a pleasing way. No streams of flashy but pointless trailers and no developer diaries with people talking about how special it is, but plenty of gameplay footage. Like this, 9 minutes of straight gameplay footage Capcom first streamed during Gamescom and has now shared for all to see.

Although Remember Me didn't start life as a Capcom project, it's slowly turning into one, now that the Japanese publisher has picked up the rights to the game. In fact, Capcom isn't just publishing the game--it's collaborating with developer Dontnod Entertainment by giving them access to Yoshinori Ono, producer of the Street Fighter franchise.
"It's a bit like the situation Capcom has with [Devil May Cry developer] Ninja Theory," Capcom's Mat Hart explained. "The strategy of western development is building teams together--Capcom and a developer coming together and making a game together."

Cyberpunky action-adventure game Adrift was shown off by French studio Dontnod Entertainment at Gamescom 2011, then looking for a publisher, but drifted out of sight afterwards. Today, in advance of this year's Gamescom show, Capcom announced that it's picked Adrift up and renamed it Remember Me for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in May 2013.
