Cryptic Studios has unveiled the subscription plans for its February 2-due star trekkin' MMO Star Trek Online as well as discounted pre-order subscription offers including a $240 lifetime sub which grants an exclusive playable Liberated Borg race.
Regular subscriptions will cost $15 on a monthly basis, $42 per three months--a 6% discount compared to monthly subscriptions--or $80 for six--saving you 11%. Read more »

Steam's sales chart for the post-Christmas week is naturally dominated by many of its holiday deals, though the unstoppable Modern Warfare 2 sticks it out at full price to claim the number two spot by quality of sale rather than quantity in the revenue race.
Pre-orders reign supreme at Direct2Drive, with advance orders for the 'Digital Deluxe Edition' of Star Trek Online seeing it crowned sales monarch while the regular edition seperately finishes ninth, and pre-orders for Mass Effect 2's DDE place it at number eight. Read more »

By this point, I think Atari and Cryptic have firmly established that Star Trek Online has explosions. That's (presumably) why this montage includes footage of exploration--both-in-space and on-foot--and some explosions. You know, in case you forgot.
Launching February 2, the sci-fi PC MMO includes vocal contributions from old Spock himself (Leonard Nimoy) and young Spock (Zachary Quinto as "Emergency Medical Hologram"), with an open beta running January 12 through January 26. Read more »

A new behind-the-scenes trailer for Cryptic Studios' space and land-faring MMO Star Trek Online reveals Star Trek veteran Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock) lending his unique vocal talents to the the game's introduction. He will also be involved with "key scenes and events in-game."

Atari continues to ramp up its marketing efforts as Star Trek Online's early February launch approaches, this time kicking off a series of narrative-driven trailers (dubbed "Veil of Space") with this Captain's Log of a first episode, titled "Into the Den."
Sporting both space and ground-based action and adventure, the latest PC MMO from Cryptic Studios (Champions Online) formally launches on February 2, with an open beta kicking off in mid-January and pre-order "early start" access on January 29. Read more »

Star Trek Online's Klingon faction content will be almost exclusively PvP-based when the PC MMORPG launches on February 2, Cryptic has revealed--unlike their Federation foes.
Klingons "must advance through PvP, as they will not have access to robust player-vs.-environment content at launch," a press release states while reassuring that "PvP... is something we designed from the ground up to be a viable advancement path." Read more »

At a mere 54 seconds, "Belly of the Beast" is far from the longest Star Trek Online trailer we've seen, especially considering that 23 seconds of that is nothing but logos. The other 31 seconds? Explosions, explosions, a bit of pew pew, and more explosions.
This all leads up to the launch of Cryptic's ground and space-based PC MMO on February 2, with a closed beta underway and an open beta beginning January 12. Read more »

Star Trek Online developer Cryptic Studios has released the second part of its space combat trailer series, this time touching on the MMORPG's Star Wars: X-Wing-style energy management, as well as boarding enemy ships to disrupt their systems.
Currently in closed beta, Star Trek Online will receive a two-week open beta in January before launching for PC in North America on February 2 then Febuary 5 in Europe. Read more »

Cryptic Studios' massively multiplayer take on Star Trek will launch February 2 in North America and February 5 in Europe, the company officially confirmed today.
The second PC MMO to emerge from Cryptic in less than a year, the first being September's Champions Online, Star Trek Online is currently in beta testing and is billed by the company as "the first MMO to offer both space and ground game play."
