Weekly PC Sales: Star Trek Online, Sales Stars and the Unstoppable Modern Warfare 2

Steam's sales chart for the post-Christmas week is naturally dominated by many of its holiday deals, though the unstoppable Modern Warfare 2 sticks it out at full price to claim the number two spot by quality of sale rather than quantity in the revenue race.

Pre-orders reign supreme at Direct2Drive, with advance orders for the 'Digital Deluxe Edition' of Star Trek Online seeing it crowned sales monarch while the regular edition seperately finishes ninth, and pre-orders for Mass Effect 2's DDE place it at number eight. Read more »

Star Trek Online Trailer: Exploration Explosion

By this point, I think Atari and Cryptic have firmly established that Star Trek Online has explosions. That's (presumably) why this montage includes footage of exploration--both-in-space and on-foot--and some explosions. You know, in case you forgot.

Launching February 2, the sci-fi PC MMO includes vocal contributions from old Spock himself (Leonard Nimoy) and young Spock (Zachary Quinto as "Emergency Medical Hologram"), with an open beta running January 12 through January 26. Read more »

Star Trek Online's Klingon faction content will be almost exclusively PvP-based when the PC MMORPG launches on February 2, Cryptic has revealed--unlike their Federation foes.

At a mere 54 seconds, "Belly of the Beast" is far from the longest Star Trek Online trailer we've seen, especially considering that 23 seconds of that is nothing but logos. The other 31 seconds? Explosions, explosions, a bit of pew pew, and more explosions.

This all leads up to the launch of Cryptic's ground and space-based PC MMO on February 2, with a closed beta underway and an open beta beginning January 12. Read more »
