The second downlodable add-on for BioShock 2, the "Rapture Metro Pack," won't be making its expected release this week, publisher 2K Games has confirmed.

A second batch of downloadable add-ons for both 2K Marin's shooter BioShock 2 and Avalanche's explosive Just Cause 2 will arrive on April 29, Microsoft has revealed.
BioShock 2's add-on, dubbed "Rapture Metro Map Pack" and priced at 800 Microsoft Points / $10, adds six new multiplayer maps along with a new multiplayer rank of fifty, two additional masks, three more achievements and a "Kill 'Em Kindly melee mode." Read more »

The first piece of publisher 2K's "aggressive post-launch downloadable content plan" for BioShock 2 arrived yesterday, adding some new multiplayer characters, weapon upgrades and a higher rank cap in exchange for 400 Microsoft Points / $4.99.
However, buyers quickly noticed that the download itself was extremely small--23KB on PC, 108KB on Xbox 360 and 103KB on PlayStation 3--suggesting that the download wasn't adding new content, but rather unlocking content already on the game disc. Read more »

With February 2010 now behind us, research firm NPD Group has released its regular breakdown of the past month's U.S. console hardware and software sales.
A few interesting tidbits: The Xbox 360 outsold the Wii for the first time since September 2007, which is when Halo 3 was released. The PlayStation 3 edition of BioShock 2 is nowhere to be found despite the Xbox 360 version topping the chart. The bonus-packed PlayStation 3 edition of Dante's Inferno outsold the regular Xbox 360 iteration. Read more »

"Unboxing" might be a loathsome phenomenon but peeking inside BioShock 2's $100 Special Edition with 2K community manager Elizabeth Tobey is an absolute delight.

Update: The listing has been updated to declare a high "15 machine activation limit," after which--if hit without any deactivations--players would presumably need to contact support before they could install and play BioShock 2 again.
Update 2: Steam has once again updated its listing, now stating that a digital download of BioShock 2 sports a "5 machine activation limit," though maker 2K states "we are using SecuROM only as a disc check method for the retail copy of BioShock 2," adding that you won't need an internet connection to save single-player progress. Though the first BioShock didn't get much in the way of downloadable add-ons--PC and Xbox 360 owners got a handful of new abilities, the later PlayStation 3 release netted extra challenge levels--BioShock 2 developer 2K Marin has teased BioShock 2 will "absolutely" have DLC, describing its plans as "pretty aggressive."
