BioShock 2 PC Getting Minerva's Den, Protector Trials, and Final Patch!

Earlier this month, 2K Games sadly revealed that it would not be bringing the Protector Trials and Minerva's Den DLC packs to the PC version fo BioShock 2. Also left out in the cold was the game's final patch, already out for the console versions.

Today, 2K's Elizabeth Tobey has announced that the company will be bringing these two DLC packs and the patch to the PC SKU. Read more »

Minerva's Den and Protector Trials Not Coming to the PC Version of BioShock 2 [Updated]

[Update: 4:50p.m.] 2K's Elizabeth Tobey has posted an explanation regrading the cancelation of Minerva's Den, as well as the Protector Trials DLC, for the PC version of BioShock 2 on 2K's official forums. Tobey also details the decision not to add playlists to the multiplayer component of BioShock 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3. The entire explanation is available after the break.

BioShock 2 DLC 'Minerva's Den' Arrives Aug. 31 for $10

2K Marin has revealed BioShock 2's "narrative driven" downloadable content pack, Minerva's Den, will launch at the end of this month.

According to Joystiq, the content will be available on August 31 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is priced at $9.99 / 800 Microsoft Points. The content will be available for PC users at "a later date." Read more »

BioShock 2 'Narrative-Driven' DLC 'Minerva's Den' Announced

BioShock 2 is finally set to receive a dose of "narrative-driven" downloadable content when the 'Minerva's Den' DLC arrives this fall, publisher 2K Games announced today.

Minvera's Den is described as a "a self-contained narrative experience" starring "an all-new character," venturing into the "never-before-seen" Rapture Central Computing district to help Brigid Tenenbaum "uncover the dark secrets hidden in its founder's past." Read more »

Take-Two CEO on Red Dead's Reception, BioShock 2 sales, and another Max Payne 3 delay

In an interview with Venture Beat, Take-Two chief executive officer Ben Feder discussed the strong sales of Rockstar Games' long-in-development western Red Dead Redemption, calling the "iconic" image of protagonist John Marston an important element to game's marketing message. "That image is designed to be seared into your mind," Feder told Venture Beat's Dean Takahashi. Feder also discussed the commercial success of BioShock 2, calling the title "ultimately successful, but not hugely successful." Read more »

BioShock Series Could Switch Developers

While Take-Two Interactive still intends to "support the [BioShock] franchise," the publisher has revealed that the next entry could be handled by a different developer.

"We think BioShock is still one of the most important franchises in the industry," Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick said in a recent conference call to investors, as picked up by IGN. "We do intend to support it; doesn't necessarily have to be at [BioShock 2 maker] 2K Marin, but we do intend to support the franchise." Read more »

BioShock 2 'Rapture Metro' DLC Hits PC Tuesday

Released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier this month, the latest round of downloadable add-ons for BioShock 2 will be making their way to PC tomorrow.

Due on PC come May 25, the content spans three individual downloads of varying price and functionality--the free "Kill 'em Kindly" melee multiplayer mode, the 800 Microsoft Points / $10 "Rapture Metro Pack" that offers six new multiplayer maps, and the two additional characters of the 160 Microsoft Point / $2 "Zigo and Blanche Character Pack"--all of which are sold through the Games for Windows Live Marketplace. BioShock 2 'Kill 'Em Kindly' Mode Trailer: Fore!

Our old pal Andrew Ryan returns to remind us of the importance of a strong golf swing in a trailer for BioShock 2's free new golf clubs-only multiplayer mode, Kill 'Em Kindly.

Both the free Kill 'em Kindly mode and the $10 (800 Microsoft Points) Rapture Metro map pack DLC are out now on Xbox 360, weighing in at 659.39MB apiece, and are slated to hit PlayStation 3 later today. 2K Offering Real-Life Big Daddy Suit, Cash Prize for 'Most Outrageous' BioShock 2 Footage

Publisher 2K Games is on the hunt for the "most outrageous" BioShock 2 footage possible, and it's offering a real-life Big Daddy suit (from the BioShock 2 SE Unboxing video) plus $5,000 in cash to the one that can pull it off.

Dubbed the BioShock 2 Vid-Cap Contest, the competition encourages players to "create a video including the craziest, most ridiculous, most outrageous BioShock 2 gameplay footage you can create, capture, and edit" and then upload it to the designated contest portion of the official 2K Games YouTube Channel by June 7, 2010. 2K Games has announced the second installment of downloadable multiplayer content for Bioshock 2, called the "Rapture Metro Pack."
