An image appearing at the end of Insomniac Games' upcoming downloadable effort Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty (PS3) indicates that the company is planning a new entry in the series for the fall of 2009.

As reported by 1UP, the image points to a new iteration in Insomniac's long-running action-platformer franchise. With work on the studio's upcoming shooter sequel Resistance 2 (PS3) nearly completed, it is speculated that the title will be a full retail release, rather than a downloadable installment a la Quest for Booty. Insomniac has revealed that its upcoming downloadable effort Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty (PS3) will hit the PlayStation Network on August 21, GameSpot reports.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty, the next entry in Insmoniac's cartoony PlayStation 3 platforming series, is a little different than the last one.

Instead of being a full-priced $59.99 retail title sporting 20 or so hours of gameplay, Quest for Booty is a smaller, shorter title that will be downloadable from the online PlayStation Store later this summer for $14.99. Read more »

The next entry in Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank series will debut on PlayStation 3 later this summer as a downloadable effort.

Continuing from the events of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty delivers the series' traditional 3D platforming gameplay and will sell for $14.99.
