Although they will no longer provide any of those pesky "numbers" we all like so much, the NPD Group has released its report for the month of September. As Microsoft announced earlier, Halo: Reach topped the charts, selling 3.3 million units in its first month of sale.
Capcom's Dead Rising 2 took the third spot across three platforms, despite launching on September 28 in North America. EA Sports saw three of its titles land in September's top ten, with Madden NFL 11, NHL 11, and FIFA Soccer 11 invading the month's top five sellers. New exclusive titles Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for the PSP and Nintendo Wii's Metroid: Other M also had strong debuts. Note: The NPD Group no longer lists software as individual platforms. Sales for all platforms will now be combined when listed in the "Top Ten" and no figures will be released to the public from the NPD Group. Read more »

Jimmy's Vendetta is technically the second piece of downloadable content that developer 2K Czech has released for it's recent mob-romp, Mafia 2. That said, the latest DLC is the first piece of content available to those who didn't buy the PS3 version of Mafia 2, which included free access to 'The Betrayal of Jimmy,' a DLC chapter that takes place before Jimmy's Vendetta. (Don't worry, playing 'Betrayal' isn't necessary to enjoy what 'Vendetta' has to offer.)

Man Down! Brian misses his first episode with a summer cold leaving Jeff and Garnett to do their morning show duo impersonation for this week's show. They don't miss a beat getting right into Whatcha Been Playin? with Shogun 2, Mafia 2, Sonic Riders for kinect, and F1 2010. Last week's topic of shooting as the dominant mechanic in modern videogames struck a chord with the community and gets the Warning off to a flying start. Whether "gamey" elements break serious games and how we feel about game developers becoming movie makers takes the discussion to this week's music break featuring "Over" produced by So Flawless. And yes, Microsoft's decision to raise the price on its Live service gets into the Front Page along with loads of other news like a price drop on Nintendo's handhelds and the end of the ATI era.
