Nintendo adds four more value-priced 'Selects'

Nintendo has announced four more additions to its Nintendo Selects line, the $20 bargain packaging for best-selling Wii games. The new line-up includes Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Mario Strikers Charged, and Punch-Out. Each will retail for $19.99 starting on August 28.

With the release of Next Level's Punch-Out!! Wii-magining coming up in under a month, Nintendo has issued some new screenshots featuring the game's "Head-to-Head" multiplayer mode. Apparently, Little Pete isn't quite so little when he gets angry.

The Wii edition of Punch-Out!! hits North American stores on May 18, with both the original NES Punch-Out!! and Super NES sequel Super Punch-Out!! now available for download from the Wii's online Shop Channel, priced respectively at $5 and $8.

Punch-Out!! Fists-On Impressions: Little Mac Is Back

Nintendo is giving players the opportunity to lace up their gloves for some hands-on time with Punch-Out!! on the Wii. I went a few rounds with the game to get an idea of how developer Next Level updated the classic arcade boxing game for the Wii.

Punch-Out!! once again puts you in the boots of Little Mac, a small-time boxer with big dreams and an always-get-up attitude. Much like the Punch-Out games for the NES and SNES, Punch-Out!! on the Wii starts you off on the minor circuit where you have to fight your way up the ranks to eventually become the champ. Nintendo today issued a partial list of the Wii and Nintendo DS games slated to hit North American retailers by the end of July, revealing release dates and new games.

Punch-Out!!, the Wii entry in the long-dormant boxing series, arrives on May 18. Excitebots: Trick Racing, an Excitebike and Excite Truck-esque family-friendly racing game that uses the Wii Wheel controller shell, will hit stores on April 20. Read more »

Punch-Out!! Wii Due by July, Kirby Wii Still Alive

Tucked away within Nintendo's recent financial documents was a tentative release schedule for the next year, revealing that the forthcoming Punch-Out!! Wii will hit North America and Europe within the first half of 2009.

The schedule also reaffirms that Wii Sports Resort will hit North America within the first half of the calendar year, with Treasure's shooter Sin & Punishment 2 still due this year. Read more »

Nintendo today revealed the existence of a new Punch-Out!! title for the Wii during the company's press conference in Tokyo, according to Wired.

The boxing title is expected to release in 2009.
