Next-gen Pro Evolution Soccer to use Kojima's Fox Engine

Next-gen Pro Evolution Soccer to use Kojima's Fox Engine

Once the leader of the genre, Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series has been trumped by EA's FIFA games, both in sales and critical reception. With a new generation of consoles looming, what can Konami do to get its football game in top shape? Get help from Kojima Productions, of course.

Kojima Productions has been toiling away at a new graphics engine for quite some time. Fox Engine, which powers the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, looks quite impressive. Konami plans on using a modified version of that engine for its upcoming PES games.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 gets PS3 3D patch today

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 gets PS3 3D patch today

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 hits stores today. But PS3 owners will find that there's a hefty day-one patch waiting for them. Before fretting, however, note that it does add quite a bit of functionality that--for one reason or another--couldn't be squeezed onto the disc when it went gold.

Perhaps the most significant addition offered by the patch is support for 3DTVs. In addition, the update adds a beta version of "myPES," an online social network of sorts for the soccer franchise.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 to get two demos

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 to get two demos

There was a time when Pro Evolution Soccer (or PES) was referred to as Winning Eleven in North America, which directly coincided with the game's domination of the football (aka soccer) video game world.

Over the years, things have changed. The Winning Eleven name is gone and EA Sports has taken over the space with its FIFA franchise. It looks like Konami is looking to fight back by announcing two demos will be released for Pro Evolution Soccer 2012.
