Prince of Persia is 'paused' for now, needs 'time to breathe'

Hey, remember Prince of Persia? So does Ubisoft. But that doesn't mean you can expect a new game in that franchise any time soon.

Ubisoft Montreal is the team responsible for both the 2008 reboot and the 2010 movie tie-in The Forgotten Sands. However, CEO Yannis Mallat confirmed that the series is currently taking a break. "I think it is fair to say that, right now, Prince of Persia is being paused."

Games for Windows Live Marketplace Adds New Titles, Puts Old Prince of Persias on Sale

The "Games on Demand" section of Microsoft's digital distribution platform Games for Windows Live "will soon be the home of day-and-date game releases from the industry's biggest names," the company declared today.

Alongside the day-and-date releases, which kicked off today with Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands PC, the company will be adding more games to the online catalog, including those that don't utilize Games for Windows Live functionality. Read more »

Brian continues to love Red Dead Redemption while Jeff spent his week with Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands and that's only part of what's in Whatcha' Been Playin? Prince of Persia Trailer Stars Forgotten Evil

The latest entry in the acrobatic action-adventure series Prince of Persia heads out to retailers this week--a theatrical film based on the franchise, though not this particular entry, follows May 28--so maker Ubisoft has released a new trailer to celebrate.

Dubbed "The Forgotten Sands" and set between the events of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" and "Prince of Peria: Warrior Within," the game is due on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and Wii come May 18 in North America / May 21 in Europe. Read more »

Prince of Persia Trailer Offers Forgotten Intro

A snazzy piece of computer-generation footage serves as the introduction to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 renditions of Prince of Perisa: The Forgotten Sands.

Due out May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe--just weeks before Disney's franchise-inspired Prince of Persia theatrical film--Ubisoft's acrobatic action-adventure is also coming to Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, with the Wii edition specifically "made from the ground-up" for the platform and telling a different story than the others. Prince of Perisa: Forgotten Sand Pre-Orders Get 'Exclusive Content' at GameStop

Those that pre-order Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 form via retailer GameStop will be rewarded with "exclusive content," publisher Ubisoft revealed in the form of a Facebook post noticed by Destructoid.

The exclusive mode, "Forgotten Arena," sees players of the acrobatic action-adventure battling waves of ever-increasing foes and regaining health between rounds. Those that pre-order the game online will receive the code needed to unlock the content in the form of an e-mail, those that pre-order in store should find that code printed on their receipt. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Trailer Has Gameplay, Talking Developers

A "first-look gameplay video" of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands has arrived from Ubisoft, offering an in-game look at the impending acrobatic action-adventure.

According to Ubisoft, all versions of the game--PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP--are slated to hit on May 18, just before the film hits theaters. However, various retailers are still listing the PC version for a later release on June 1. Read more »

Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands Release Date, Additional Wii Details Revealed

Having vowed that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands would offer "a different gaming experience" than Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, publisher Ubisoft today provided a few new details on the Wii action game.

In particular, the Wii version has been crafted "entirely from the ground up" by Ubisoft Quebec City and apparently "utilizes the full graphical capabilities of the Wii" in addition to "unique controls and capabilities" across its estimated fifteen hour run time. Read more »

Following the recent announcement of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the more recent debut trailer, publisher Ubisoft has offered up fresh details on the action game.

Coming to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, Forgotten Sands takes place between Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2003) and Warrior Within (2004), detailing the titular Prince's efforts to save his brother's kingdom from destruction. Read more »
