Amid the news of a guillotine dangling by a thread above the noggin of Blur dev Bizarre Creations, another game studio with a troubled past has been struck with a killing blow.
Vancouver-based Propaganda Games has closed its doors for good, parent-company Disney Interactive confirmed to Joystiq. Disney's decision doesn't come as much of a surprise given the studio's recent--and unfortunate--proclivity for being forced to shelve projects and shed its workforce. Read more »

Disney Interactive has confirmed that the upcoming Propaganda Games-developed action title, Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned has been cancelled. The game, which was set to expand the franchise beyond the film universe, was originally scheduled to dock retail shores in 2011.
The cancellation comes on the heels of rumors, reported by Kotaku, that the Vancouver-based Propaganda Games has been hit with another wave of layoffs. In February 2009, multiple sources told me that Propaganda Games saw "at least 75 employees" shed at both Propaganda and, the now defunct, Fall Line Studios. At that time, sources also revealed that a planned sequel to Turok was scrapped due to the layoffs. Read more »

Disney has released more spiffing screenshots of Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, an open-world action RPG announced last month, set before the films.
Disney promises moral choices will affect both your personal pirate and the larger story, an adventure on land and sea fraught with piratical, natural and supernatural dangers--concept art suggests stormy seas and the iconic skeletal seadogs as potential perils. Read more »

The developers behind the recent Turok title are teaming up with Disney to create a new open world action-RPG based on the Pirates of the Caribbean license.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned will take place before the events of the film series, according to IGN. Players will explore the world on both land and sea, and interact with various NPCs in determining their character's moral center. Read more »
