Path of Exile launch six months away, expansion plans outlined

Path of Exile has spent a few months in open beta, and is currently working on a full version to launch. It's a long way off, though, as the game's 1.0 release is still six months away according to Grinding Gear Games co-founder Chris Wilson.

Path of Exile preview: custom combos

Path of Exile has undergone a long journey towards its final release. On January 23, the action RPG is about to take a big step forward when Grinding Gear Games sends their debut game into open beta.

The free-to-play Path of Exile plays similarly to many online action RPGs. Characters are moved with the left mouse button, while combat involves clicking on enemies or hitting keys like Q or W to unleash spells or other special attacks. Where the game begins to set itself apart from its contemporaries is with the sheer enormity of customization options.

Path of Exile open beta launches January 23

Your clicking finger may be getting weak and lazy now Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 have passed, but fortunately a new exercise regime is coming soon in the form of Path of Exile's open beta. Grinding Gear's PC action-RPG has been in pre-order beta for a while now, but all and sundry will get to play from January 23.

Path of Exile delays open beta to January

Despite a previous December target, Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile's open beta will be delayed until January. The team noted that it could potentially launch this year, but it would be so close to the holidays that most of the studio wouldn't be around to oversee the operations.
