Good Old Games is offering up to 40% off select titles to celebrate the happenings at Gamescom 2010.
In selecting the discounted titles, GOG decided to go with software "that originated or were very successful in the land of great cars, good football teams and last but not least beer & wurst." Yeah, it's pretty ambiguous.

A demo for Painkiller: Overdose is now available, allowing you to try out this Painkiller prequel which started out as a mod for the original game. The 733mb demo includes two singleplayer, and two multiplayer maps.
The retail version of Painkiller: Overdose, which includes sixteen new levels, six new weapons, forty new monsters and additional multiplayer options, will ship October 23.

DreamCatcher has released a new patch for Painkiller, updating the game from version 1.61 to version 1.62. The update fixes several gameplay problems, and also has some updates to DM_Psycho. Updated Linux and Windows standalone server files are available as well.

We received a press release from DreamCatcher Games, announcing a Painkiller Gold Edition. The DVD set will include the original game, the Battle out of Hell expansion pack and a making-of video. Painkiller: Gold Edition will be released in March.

DreamCatcher Games sends along a massive new patch for Painkiller, which updates the People Can Fly shooter to version 1.61. The 338mb download adds all the new content and features created for the Cyberathlete Professional League (which will be using the game in its tournaments), along with a few other changes/additions.
Within the largest Painkiller update released, players can look forward to the new CPL dueling maps from Ritual Entertainment, over a half dozen specialty maps and numerous CPL-ready network features. They will also enjoy access to two additional multiplayer modes, Capture the Flag and Last Man Standing, as well as carnage-creating power of the exclusive weaponry offered in Painkiller's Expansion, "Battle Out of Hell."
The update also includes Battle Out of Hell's graphic enhancements, the reworked networking core and a number of fixes for outstanding issues. Utilizing the impressive Havok 2.0 physics engine, Painkiller continues to achieve new heights of physics-based game play while version 1.61 of the proprietary PAIN Engine pumps out an unbelievably high polygon count, and awesome visual effects like heat and haze distortion, per-pixel spectacular mapping, support for NVIDIA's Shader Model 3.0.

A second Painkiller: Battle out of Hell video has been released, this time showing off footage from the Loony Park level. As mentioned yesterday, the expansion pack suffered a shipping delay and will now show up in stores the 22nd.

This post on the DreamCatcher forums announces that the Painkiller expansion Battle out of Hell has suffered from a release delay due to duplication problems. Originally scheduled to reach stores today, the expansion pack is now due out the 22nd. Thanks Blues.

As you'd expect from a game that's due to show up in stores on the 11th, DreamCatcher Games today announced that Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell has gone gold. The expansion pack comes with an updated game engine, 10 new singleplayer levels, and various new multiplayer maps & modes.
