Next week will voyage into the near future with Kaos Studios' shooter Homefront, and probe the distant past with The Creative Assembly's strategy game Total War: Shogun 2, while Yakuza 4 will ground us in the present day. In the worlds of wild fantasy, we'll be getting Okamiden, DS sequel to the much-loved Okami, and wacky racing on Wii with Trackmania: Build to Race.

Okamiden Demo Available Today

If you've always wanted to play with an adorable god-puppy, sir, today is your day to make that wish come true. Joystiq reports that a demo for Okamiden is available now on the Wii's Nintendo Channel in North America.

To download the demo, open up the DS Download Service tab on the Nintendo Channel and select the demo, then select the Download Play option on your DS. The demo promises lessons on how to use the celestial brush as a primer for the game, though the stylus controls seem like they shouldn't require much explanation. Read more »

Okamiden Adorably Wagging its Tail to Retail in March

Capcom has revealed that the DS-exclusive sequel to the--now defunct--Clover Studio original Okami is coming to retail in North America and Europe in March.

Okamiden will arrive in North America on March 15, while European gamers will get their hands on the baby wolf-god thing on March 18. Read more »

Okamiden E3 Media Spreads Smiles

E3 screenshots and a trailer for Capcom's Okamiden have arrived to melt even the coldest of hearts while showing off a little more of the Nintendo DS sequel to Clover's Okami.

Our Garnett seemed to have a jolly good time when he picked up the Celestial Paintbrush and played Okamiden back in April but unfortunately you'll have to wait until 2011 to get your hand on the DS exclusive. Read more »

Okamiden Preview: Drawing on the DS in the Sequel to Okami

As an evocative adventure game starring a wolf-god that allowed players to interact with scenes as if painting them in a traditional Japanese ink style, Okami met rave reviews, but only limited commercial success. Its initial PS2 release in 2006 fell flat in its home territory of Japan, but found some audience in the West. A subsequent Wii port of that game released in 2008 met a similar fate. Developer Clover Studios subsequently closed (not as a direct result) but Capcom, convinced of the strength of the creative idea behind the game, initiated a sequel, but this time for Nintendo's DS handheld.

Okamiden Media Shows Off Nintendo DS Sequel

Since Okamiden is now officially slated to hit North America and Europe in 2011, maker Capcom has unleashed a fresh batch of media showing off the Nintendo DS title.

Set a few months after the events of the original Okami--available on PlayStation 2 and Wii--the "picturesque action adventure" focuses on the adventures of Chibiterasu, a young sun god who has taken the form of a wolf pup. Read more »
