Ready at Dawn's upcoming Wii edition of Clover Studios' beloved wolf adventure Okami will include 16:9 widescreen and 480p progressive scan support, according to a new fact sheet that appeared in publisher Capcom's official store.
The lack of those two features were among the chief complaints critics had regarding the original PlayStation 2 edition, which only outputted in 4:3 and 480i. Both the PlayStation 2 and the Wii are capable of outputting widescreen images in 480p resolution. Read more »

Update 2: Eurogamer marks the latest site to claim the port is confirmed, saying that it was indeed announced at Capcom's UK Gamers Day and will feature a combination of gesture-controlled brush strokes and motion-controlled combat.
Update 1: Shacknews has learned that the embargoes related to Capcom's UK Gamers Day event lift this Friday, October 19, though we were unable to verify claims of Okami for Wii. Capcom US is expected to make its respective announcements later this week. Original Story: A fresh rumor regarding the now-defunct Clover Studio's brilliant PlayStation 2 adventure Okami indicates a revival of the game on a fitting system: the Nintendo Wii. "Long fantasized by the players, then mentioned in many rumors, Okami is finally confirmed on Wii," reads a Google translation of French site Jeauxactu.com. Capcom recently held its Gamer's Day event in London, so it is possible that the port was announced there, though other reports have yet to mention anything regarding Okami. Given Okami's brush-stroke based gameplay, the title would seem a perfect match for Nintendo's Wii Remote controller. According to Jeauxactu, the Capcom-published game is set to debut in early 2008. Similar rumors populated game websites earlier this year, with a Capcom UK representative finally shutting down the speculation with this reply: "Officially we have no plans for Okami on Wii at this time. Research and development are always looking at possibilities but given Clover is now closed for business, I think it highly unlikely a Wii version would be possible."
