Nintendo President Talks Lacklustre E3 Reception, Changing Society With Wii Vitality Sensor

"Honestly speaking, none of us at Nintendo thought that our presentation at E3 was as good as it could have been," said Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in a recent investor Q&A, explaining the company "could not fully convey the charm of our products."

New Super Mario Bros. Wii Hands-on Preview

A full one quarter of the demo stations in Nintendo's color-free booth is dedicated to the recently announced New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is exactly what you'd expect from a multiplayer Mario game--Mario, Luigi, and a couple Toads simultaneously running from left to right, hopping over pits, collecting coins, and stomping on koopas. If you're not a jerk, you can just play the game as you would any other platformer. Read more »

New Super Mario Bros. for Wii Announced, Co-op Mario Supports Four Players

Nintendo today announced New Super Mario Bros. for Wii, a 2D Mario game that will support four player co-op.

The game resembles the Nintendo DS version of New Super Mario Bros, but allows up to 1-4 players to traverse the 2D levels as characters such as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Toad. Players can switch between single-player and co-op at any time.

"We admit, we haven't quite figured out how to move [Mario] into a fourth dimension," said Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway. "But that number, four, that's the key to Mario's next surprise." Read more »
