PSP getting Madden 12, Need for Speed Shift pack

The PlayStation Vita isn't launching until next year, but in the meantime Sony is keeping the PSP alive with a new bundle pack that includes two of the things we Americans love the most: football and fast cars. The new bundle includes both Madden NFL 12 and Need for Speed Shift. If you add beer and pretzels to the pack, you'll have a Sunday afternoon in a box.

Need for Speed Shift Sequel 'Shift 2 Unleashed' Formally Announced

EA has today formally announced the the mysterious sequel to Need for Speed Shift that it had previously talked of in an August financial report. It's seemingly done away with the Need for Speed name as EA refers to the game only as Shift 2 Unleashed.

Developed by NFS Shift maker Slightly Mad Studios, Shift 2 Unleashed will boast "an all-new rendering engine with a massive graphics overhaul" as well as the 'Autolog' social suite seen in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. And cars you can drive quickly. Read more »

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Sells 5 Million Copies, Electronic Arts Details Software Sales

EA DICE's first-person shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has sold five million copies since it hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2010, Electronic Arts said today.

Amazingly, it seems that at least four million were sold during the game's first month at retail, as Electronic Arts noted that Bad Company 2 was among five games that sold over four million copies within its past fiscal year, which ended on March 31, 2010. Read more »

Need for Speed SHIFT Ferrari DLC Screens and Info

A slew of Ferraris are coming to Need for Speed SHIFT this month -- but for the next eight days exclusively to Xbox LIVE -- via a 'Ferrari Racing Series' downloadable content pack from publisher Electronic Arts. The new DLC packs in ten different Ferraris and eight new racing events containing forty-six challenges designed specifically for the new cars.

The new cars can be used in online races and the pack includes one hundred twenty-five new gamerpoints worth of achievements to be unlocked. Read more »

New Need For Speed SHIFT PC Demo Has Your "Falken Tires" Right Here

Thanks to a sponsorship deal between Electronic Arts, Falken Tire and Discount Tire, we've got a new PC demo for Slighty Mad's recently released racer Need For Speed SHIFT.

Need for Speed Shift Getting Free 'Team Racing' DLC, Five 'Legendary' Cars

Need for Speed Franchise Passes 100 Million Sales

Electronic Arts' racing franchise Need for Speed has now sold over 100 million units worldwide since the series' debut in 1994, with over $2.7 billion in sales accumulated in those 15 years.

"The main thrust of the sales has actually come in the last six years, where we've averaged over 12 million units per year," said Need for Speed VP of marketing Keith Munro to Gamasutra. Read more »

PlayStation Store Update: PSP Go Bonanza, Brutal Legend and Need for Speed Shift Demos

Today's release of the PSP Go sparks a monster update to the PlayStation Store as scores of publishers release gobs of games for Sony's download-only handheld.

Need for Speed: Shift Console Demo Coming Thursday

Though the PC demo is already out, a PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 demo for EA's Need for Speed: Shift will also be made available on Thursday.

The demo will include the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and London River tracks, as well as five cars: the BMW M3 (E46), 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10, 2006 Lotus Elise 111R, 2008 Nissan GT-R and an unlockable 2006 Pagani Zonda F. Read more »

Need for Speed SHIFT Patch Adds LAN, Mouse Support

EA today patched the PC version of Need for Speed SHIFT, adding a few minor features to the recently released racer.

The update brings support for "LAN (Local Area Network) play," which supposedly "enhances the multiplayer experience." Also added was something called "Mouse Support," a revolutionary new feature that provides "full menu navigation through the game using your PC mouse." Read more »

Need for Speed Shift PC Demo Released

With Slightly Mad's Need for Speed Shift having raced into shops this week, a 1.13GB downloadable demo of the PC edition can now be found over on FileShack.

The demo offers up two tracks (London River, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps) and five cars from the game, which is now available on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A separate PSP edition, handled by EA Bright Light, was released this week as well.
