Rock Band DLC: Blue Oyster Cult, Motorhead, Hawkwind

Harmonix has announced that next week Rock Band will be shaken to its core by what will surely go down in history as one of the greatest downloadable content releases ever.

As well as liberating the six face-rocking tracks previously exclusive to the Metal Track Pack, the batch also packs in the unofficial song of the Shacknews virtual office--Blue Öyster Cult's "Godzilla" [the eponymous anti-hero is pictured left]. Read more »

Green Day Not 2010's Only Rock Band Game

Following criticism that Green Day: Rock Band's main act isn't of the same caliber as that of last year's The Beatles: Rock Band, series publisher MTV had admitted that the dedicated Green Day project is "of course not going to be our only [Rock Band] game this year."

Rock Band Network Enters Open Beta on Xbox 360, Store Coming in Weeks

Rock Band Network has entered the first stage of open beta on Xbox 360, allowing XNA Creators Club subscribers to create and test their own Rock Band tracks.

Announced back in July 2009, Rock Band Network lets artists convert their music to tracks for the rhythm game and sell them through a storefront, receiving 30% of the sale in return. Track creation tools are free but a $99/year subscription to Microsoft's XNA Creators Club is required, as the system is built upon its framework. Read more »

Veteran rockers Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers will headline next week's Rock Band downloadable content release with a second six-pack of tracks from their Live Anthology, Harmonix has announced, with support from Phoenix and Silvertide.

Rock Band DLC: Gambling with Country

"You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em." That's why Rock Band developer Harmonix is bringing a second downloadble bundle of "Going Country" songs to the music game series a year and a week or so after the first one hit.

Packing some, but not all, of the tunes that were temporarily exclusive to the physical "Rock Band Country Track Pack", the downloads hit Xbox 360 and Wii on December 28, then PlayStation 3 on January 7. Per usual, each song will sell individually for 160 Microsoft Points / 200 Wii Points / $2, with the full pack at 880 MS Points / $11. Read more »

Rock Band DLC 'Gives You Hell' as The Beatles: RB Completes Rubber Soul Next Week

Next week's lineup of downloadable tunes coming to Rock Band, LEGO Rock Band and The Beatles: Rock Band has been unveiled by series developer Harmonix, with everything slated to hit Xbox 360 and Wii on December 15 then PS3 on December 17.

First up, the assortment of regular Rock Band and LEGO Rock Band DLC, which carry the usual price of $2 / 160 Microsoft Points / 200 Wii Points per song and $5.49 / 440 MS Points for the three-song "Green Day Pack 02" bundle." Read more »

Rock Band DLC Brings Nirvana and Night Ranger; Franchise Surpasses 1,000 Songs

With the United States celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, developer Harmonix has announced next week's batch of Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and LEGO Rock Band downloadable content a bit earlier than the usual Friday.

Rock Band DLC: Walk Like an Egyptian with AFI

While the entirety of Sgt. Pepper's one and only Lonely Hearts Club Band march out to The Beatles: Rock Band next Tuesday, developer Harmonix will be releasing six downloadable tunes for its regular Rock Band entries.

The below tunes hit Xbox 360 and Wii on Tuesday, November 17, with a PlayStation 3 release following Thursday, November 19. Each track will sell by itself for $2 (160 Microsoft Points / 200 Wii Points), with the five-track AFI bundle going for $8.50 (680 Microsoft Points) on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Read more »
