In an auctioning process, THQ has sold many of its studios and upcoming games. Sega has agreed to purchase Relic Entertainment, developer of the upcoming Company of Heroes 2. Given the publisher's penchant for PC strategy games (like the Total War series), Relic's future may be relatively safe in the House of Sonic. According to @DDInvesting, Sega fronted $26 million in the auction, proving they want ownership of the PC strategy space.
Koch Media, owner of the Deep Silver publishing label, has agreed to purchase publishing rights for Metro: Last Light, and Volition, developer of THQ's successful Saints Row franchise. Koch Media offered $22.3 million for Volition, $5.8 million for Metro.

Metro: Last Light's hardcore 'Ranger Mode' difficulty setting "provides the definitive Metro experience," according to publisher THQ's creative strategist Huw Beynon. Yet it won't be included in the base game, oh no, rather you'll need to pre-order or buy it early to ensure you get a 'Limited Edition' copy. How awfully creative. Presumably it'll be sold separately as DLC too.

Live-action is the trend du jour among video game trailers, aimed at setting the tone and mood without spending millions of dollars on computer generated effects. Metro: Last Light is the latest to get in on the act, with a new trailer that captures all the filth-caked preachers and regret of the real game.

Dmitry Glukhovsky's post-apocalyptic novel Metro 2033, which was introduced to most of us by 4A Games' pleasing video game adaptation, is headed to the silver screen. MGM has picked up the movie rights, and it's a fair bet that it'll follow the game's lead and be light on philosophy and politics, but heavy on action, given Hollywood's penchant for the bombastic.

Metro: Last Light got a lengthy gameplay demonstration at E3, but it was for press eyes only until today. THQ and 4A Games has released the full 13 minute video today, giving more than enough Metro to whet your appetite for gritty post-apocalyptic goodness.

4A Games' upcoming FPS shooter is one of our most anticipated games for a reason. It looks absolutely stunning. While last year's E3 demo focused on the action-oriented gameplay of Metro: Last Light, this year's demo focuses on the survival horror half--with an emphasis on survival.
Every resource is scarce, whether it be ammo, health, and even the air you breathe. You'll be looting dead bodies and foraging through the environment not just for fun--but because it's a necessity. As you see the timer on your air filter quickly tick away, a sensation of dread quickly takes over.

Live action trailers are all the rage these days. However, few are as effective as this short film for Metro: Last Light. Taking place before the nuclear apocalypse of Last Light, the film shows a panicked crowd trying to head towards the Moscow Metro, built to serve as a refuge in case of an atomic attack. It's a rather dramatic piece, one that should reflect the grim tone developer 4A Games is going for with its upcoming first-person shooter.

Metro: Last Light
There's something about Metro 2033 that just spoke to me. It was dark and complex, it didn't pander to its audience, and it was equal parts incredible and insane--with variations of good and bad between both. Metro: Last Light looks to continue with these trends. Based on what I've seen, developer 4A Games looks to build upon the foundation of the first game to bring players an even more intense experience with Metro: Last Light.

The third video featuring the Metro: Last Light E3 2011 demo has been released, featuring hundreds of dollars worth of ammo being used to clear a path for the game's hero to board a moving train and find a prisoner. Doesn't he remember ammo is currency?
In Metro: Last Light from developer 4A Games, the protagonist Artyom returns and--from what we've seen in the previous two parts of the E3 2011 demo--has become as fiscally responsible as a modern-day mortgage association.
