There's probably no right way to nix the sequel to a beloved cult franchise, but Capcom's recent mixed messages regarding the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 certainly haven't helped the company's cause. Comments made by Capcom Europe further attracted negative attention from spurned fans.

Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version, the sample for the ongoing MML3 Project, has been delayed. Word was given in a Capcom-Unity blog post from producer Tetsuya Kitabayashi.
"The release of 'Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version', which had been planned to coincide with the launch of the Nintendo eShop at the end of May [in Japan], has been delayed," he said. "It's always been our aim in the production of this game to create something that would provide a fun time for all, and from here on out, we will be maintaining this aim with a renewed desire to create a product of the highest quality. Capcom took the wraps off its latest plan in the odd development cycle of Mega Man Legends 3 today, with the announcement trailer for a Prototype Version of the game. The trailer promises that fans can download the game when the Nintendo eShop launches, which is due in late May. Read more »
